    Hillary & Tenzings bestigning af Mount Everest i 1953 blev en verdenssensation. Endelig satte mennesket fødderne på det toppen af det højeste bjerg. Men var de egentlig de første? 29 år tidligere forsvandt de to englændere Mallory & Irvine på bjerget. Igennem skyerne så resten af ekspeditionen de to mænd tæt under toppen. Men nåede de mon op? Mallory, der var en af verdens bedste bjergbestigere, skulle lægge et billede af sin kone på toppen af Everest. Fik han gjort det? Mallory & Irvines utrolige historie er uden tvivl et af de største mysterier i moderne ekspeditionshistorie. Et mysterium, som flere gange er blevet forsøgt løst – senest i 1999, hvor Mallorys lig blev fundet. Uden billedet af sin kone på sig. Mallory's book, published by University of Kentucky Press in fall 2022, is a collection of stories from Shari's childhood and career as a businesswoman and multifaceted entertainer. While Shari Lewis died from cancer in 1998, Lambchop continues to charm audiences with the help of her sister, Mallory.

    7 - Everest: la scomparsa di Mallory e Irvine
    La storia dell'Everest parte da lontano.
    Nel 1921 ha inizio la prima spedizione britannica.
    L'obiettivo è la perlustrazione dell'Himalaya, alle pendici della montagna più alta del mondo.
    George Leigh Mallory è un debuttante in questi territori; eppure anche grazie al suo contributo venne scoperto il Colle Nord, una possibile via d'accesso alla vetta.
    Nel 1921 l'Everest non si concesse e nemmeno nel 1922, quando gli inglesi ci riprovarono.
    Nel 1924, George Leigh Mallory e Andrew Irvine piantarono e trascorsero la notte a campo VI - 8.170 metri.
    Vennero visti partire, poi le nuvole li coprirono. Per sempre.
    Mallory venne ritrovato 75 anni dopo, mentre di Irvine non vi fu traccia.
    Venne chiesto a Mallory perché si ostinasse a scalare l’Everest, dedicandoci la vita ancor prima di perderla. La risposta fu tanto semplice quanto non scontata: “ Perché`è li`”

Now that the business end is out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… so schedule your Sherpa, because we’re looking into the Mysterious Lost Expedition to Mount Everest.

    Few mountains of the world have captured the imagination of mankind quite like Mt. Everest. It is a colossal peak that for centuries was seen as one of the last unconquered domains on earth, its peak beckoning explorers and remaining just as inaccessible as the face of the moon. The mountain has also claimed its share of victims, its sheer size and unforgiving, almost malevolent weather seemingly conspiring against those who would attempt to climb it. Among these is an expedition launched in the 1920s, which would aim to be the very first to climb to the summit and which would disappear under mysterious circumstances, spiraling into one of the greatest mysteries of the 20th century.

    Located within the remote Mahalangur section of the Himalayas and with a peak standing at a mind boggling 29,029 ft. or 5-1/2 miles above sea level, Mt. Everest has long been a mysterious and awe inspiring place. It has also always held a powerful allure for adventurers, its siren call drawing in many brave climbers over the years who would conquer it, yet the soaring peak of the mountain once remained frustratingly elusive and inaccessible, defeating numerous well-equipped expeditions with a seemingly endless barrage of perils including difficult terrain, notoriously unpredictable weather, avalanches, altitude sickness, treacherous gorges and chasms, frigid temperatures, and many other weapons in an arsenal of an apparently malevolent mountain that almost seemed to not want to be climbed. History currently holds that it was not until 29 May 1953, with the groundbreaking expedition of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay that the summit of this perilous, monstrous mountain was finally reached, but is this true?
