The Future of Warehouses is Dark and Integrated

The Future of Warehouses is Dark and Integrated

In this episode of the Futurum Tech Webcast host Shelly Kramer is joined by George Koutsaftes, President and CEO of Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions for a conversation about the future of warehouses. George joined me from ProMat, one of the biggest manufacturing and supply chain tradeshows, which took place in Chicago last week, and in addition to talking about the future of dark warehouses, he also shared insights on some of the key trends he’s observed there.

We live in an increasingly digital economy, which includes a massive web of packaging, shipping, warehousing, and distribution designed systems to help meet customer needs. In fact, without this physical infrastructure, the digital economy would grind to a sudden halt.

Over the course of the last few years and in order to combat labor shortages and deal with increased e-commerce demand, many companies have moved quickly to add automation and robotics to warehouse operations. In fact, it’s not at all surprising that the global market for warehouse automation technology is anticipated to reach $21.7 billion this year, which could lead to dark warehouses — which is a very good thing.

    Their conversation covered the following:

    * What a dark warehouse is, and what that looks like in practice.

    * There’s been a significant investment in new warehouses, both physical buildings and the technology within them. They discussed the driving forces behind that and how dark warehouses can alleviate the challenge.

    * They explored the Interoperability Gap and why it’s such a major challenge for the industry.

    * They discussed some of Honeywell’s extended capabilities designed to address the Interoperability Gap and how those are being received in the market.

    * They talked about customer challenges throughout the industry and the key challenges George and his team at Honeywell seek to address.

It was a great conversation and it’s clear that addressing warehouse automation is on the minds of many throughout the industry, and with good reason.

E59, Manufacturing: The Shift Towards Problem-Solving Instead of Product-Pitching

E59, Manufacturing: The Shift Towards Problem-Solving Instead of Product-Pitching
The manufacturing industry is in the midst of a major shift – salespeople are being transformed into marketing professionals. Gone are the days of simply product-pitching; instead, manufacturers are turning to problem-solving as a more effective way to engage customers and drive sales. Companies now place an emphasis on ROI when it comes to marketing efforts, and with that has come to a focus on thought leadership as a means of bringing value to potential buyers. To get ahead in this new world of manufacturing marketing, it’s essential to understand the latest trends and how they can help you achieve success. In this episode, Graham Kilshaw, CEO of Lectrix, shares his insights on successful content marketing for engineers in the manufacturing industry. He emphasizes the need for a mindset shift from marketing to engineers, to marketing for engineers, to effectively reach and engage this critical audience. key takeaway: It's essential to consider the purpose of the content, whether it's for lead generation or pure thought leadership. ROI is now a priority in marketing, with a focus on the impact on sales, such as new conversations, opportunities, or pipeline growth. Salespeople are learning to be better marketers by focusing less on the product and more on the customer's problem. The importance of robust, integrated, and secure CQV services in all industries, emphasizing pharmaceuticals.

In the past three years, the global manufacturing process scale-up to support the COVID-19 vaccine development led to a complete transformation of best manufacturing practices across all industries.

In this podcast, CAI's Director of UK Operations Zagros Barazenda shares the best practices in operational readiness from his experience consulting in cGMP Biomedical, laboratory, and Biotechnological environments. Most recently, he facilitated the relationship between a global-leading COVID-19 vaccine developer and a brand manufacturing facility site to complete a typically 3-5 year project in one year.

Shifting from a chronological to an integrated approach – where quality assurance, automation, and engineering professionals are present in every phase –  can help your production facility improve efficiency and ensure a seamless path to market.

    Topics include:

    • How a risk-based approach in the discovery phase can reduce deviations throughout the project's lifecycle
