Ep 19: Keeping our charter schools safe and secure with William Tagle of Tagle and Associates

Ep 19: Keeping our charter schools safe and secure with William Tagle of Tagle and Associates
This week, Ryan sits down with noted security expert William Tagle of Tagle and Associates to talk about how to keep our charter schools safe. Mr. Tagle was an officer with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools police for 25 years and today provides security consulting services for public and private schools. In the year since the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, school safety has been a topic at the top of every educator's mind, and charter schools face unique challenges in making sure that their students can learn in a secure environment. We talk to Mr. Tagle about those challenges, and he gives us actionable strategies for schools to have effective safety practices.

07: Top Communication Wins that Made the Headlines in 2018

With the year coming to an end, this week's episode delves into ten communication wins of the year by the people, politicians, brands, and beer drinkers who made headlines and then made hay from an earlier challenge they faced at some point in 2018.

The stories on the list range from publicity stunts to political maneuvers that captured the public's attention over the past year. From #10 to #1, you will hear what made the story memorable and what was the communication strategy behind it landing it on the list.

This episode is the first in a two-part series of Top Communications for 2018. Next week I'll explore the top communication fails of the year.

Sarah Lerner, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Parkland, Florida – part 1

In this episode of Yearbook Chat with Jim, Jim Jordan interviews Sarah Lerner, the yearbook adviser at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The school was launched into the national spotlight after a school shooting on Feb. 14, 2018, left 17 people dead.

Sarah and her staff were tasked with creating a yearbook that honored those victims, but still showed the rest of the school and school year. It was no easy task, especially for students and staff still grieving the tragedy.

Sarah shared her important story with Jim. This is part one of her interview, part two will be released July 26.

Brunch Bite: Helping Stoneman Douglas Victims and More Info You Actually Need
It's time to cut through the noise on gun laws, mental health reform and general lack of manners to ask HOW DO WE HELP the victims of the Stoneman Douglas shooting? And, how can you take your feelings on the issues from social media to a politician's ear? It's way easier than you think.

We also have a couple brunch guests from Detroit -- Jessica's sister Cecelia and her friend Hailey. They're in high school and have a surprising perspective on school safety.
