    Book of Mark, Part 15

    Book of Mark, Part 15
Pastor Marc Sharp continues with Part 15 of the current series that is an epic journey through the New Testament Gospel of Mark, verse by verse. The book of Mark was most likely the first one written, and is generally attributed to John Mark, a close associate of Peter, and also of Paul and Barnabas. The Gospel of Mark is all about Jesus and the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom of God. Who was Jesus really, and why exactly did he come? Today's message looks at 3 different groups who approached Jesus begging. How did Jesus answer each group? What requests did he grant, and why? Which ones did he deny, and why? How should these stories affect us as we go to Christ? Mark 4:35-41; 5:1-20 - Audio

    Mark 4:35-41; 5:1-20 - Audio
Continuing through the fast-paced gospel of Mark, we come across two stories that happen in quick succession even though a chapter break is in the middle. First, heading to the "other side" of the lake, Jesus and the disciples enter a cataclysmic storm--and Jesus is asleep. But, awoken he speaks to the wind and waves and immediately the storm stops, terrifying the disciples even more! Who is this, they ask. Then upon arriving at evening on the other side they are approached by the man of the tombs who is filled with evil spirits. Jesus cleanses the man and the demons are sent into a herd of pigs. Rather than be amazed at this man who is now "clothed and in his right mind", the locals are upset and scared and ask Jesus to leave their region.
