Why I Stopped Podcasting... And It Was A Mistake

Why I Stopped Podcasting... And It Was A Mistake
I stopped podcasting in the summer of 2021. I had several excellent reasons to do it at the time, but in hindsight, it was a mistake. Most of my decision centered around the resources it took to record, edit, publish, and promote the podcast... and then attempting to attribute sales to it. I had a difficult time doing that... but it didn't mean that those sales did not exist. I believe the momentum I had and the visibility it provided me was providing opportunities... long-term. Podcasting can significantly enhance inbound sales strategies by leveraging the power of voice, capturing the attention of podcast listeners, and utilizing the necessity of repetition to get heard. Here's how: Engaging Voice: Podcasting allows businesses to convey their message using a human voice, which adds a personal touch and authenticity to the content. A well-spoken host or guest can establish a connection with the audience, making the content more relatable and trustworthy. This personal connection can positively influence listeners' perception of the brand and its products or services. Captured Attention: Podcast listeners are often highly engaged and attentive. Unlike written content, which requires visual focus, podcasts can be consumed while multitasking, such as during commutes, workouts, or household chores. This captive audience is more likely to absorb the message and remember it, increasing the likelihood of brand recall when making purchasing decisions. Necessity of Repetition: Repetition is key in marketing, and podcasting provides an excellent platform for consistent messaging. By regularly releasing podcast episodes, businesses can reinforce their brand's value proposition, key benefits, and offerings. Repetition helps ingrained the message in the minds of listeners, making them more likely to consider the brand when the need arises. Incorporating podcasting into your inbound sales strategy can capitalize on the power of voice, engage listeners' attention, and ensure consistent repetition of your messaging, ultimately boosting brand awareness, trust, and conversion rates. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for me to get my momentum back... I'll keep you posted!

“The more marketing you do, the less you need to sell.” - Ed Chan

While most of your business revenue depends directly on the strategic ideas you implement in providing your services, it also depends on your popularity as a company.

By the company's popularity, we are not referring to just being known among your circle and acquaintances. Basically, your accounting firm needs more visibility and awareness about the services you provide.

In this episode of The Wize Guys Podcast, Ed Chan, Tim Causbrook, and Thomas Sphabmixay discussed how Accounting business owners can build an extraordinary Marketing system to reach more leads without leaving them as a prisoner of their practice.

Web3 x Crypto x DAOs: How it Can Scale Impact Investing - Kianga Daverington // Managing Partner at Acre of America and ACRE DAOs

In this episode I speak with Kianga Daverington, Managing Partner at Acre of America and ACRE DAOs, on using the application of distributed ledger technologies to scale impact investing.

Kianga is the Managing Partner at Acre of America Partners LP, a Hudson Valley, New York impact investment firm focused on the application of distributed ledger technologies to solve problems for rural communities.

ACREinvest is their new blockchain venture focused on creating compelling Web3 infrastructure, virtual network services and social incentives for DAOs and other peer-to-peer permissionless stakeholders. They recently launched ACRE DAOs, a Web3 portal for a decentralized impact investment club and its related community ERC20 token: ACRE Impact.

The mission at ACREinvest is to regenerate the way capital markets work & for whom.

Kianga's legal career began as a Corporate Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York City after graduating from Spelman College and Yale Law School. In later in-house roles she supported the fixed-income derivatives, FX, derivatives prime brokerage and energy trading businesses at Goldman Sachs, and derivatives and physical commodities trading at Lehman Brothers.

When Lehman collapsed in 2008, Kianga left Wall Street and founded a new media (internet and social media) communications business for the arts. Her work included a curatorial and experimental exhibitions program, Kianga Ellis Projects, featuring emerging artists who were commenting on technological change or using digital technology in their practice.

After returning to the law in 2014, she founded a boutique derivatives and commodities trading law firm, Daverington PLLC, and began focusing full-time on the crypto assets and distributed ledger technology sector in 2017.

Ruben Harris // Founder and CEO of Career Karma

Ruben Harris // Founder and CEO of Career Karma

In this bonus episode, I speak with Ruben Harris, Founder and CEO of Career Karma, on using Software Development Bootcamps to re-skill America and make high paying tech jobs accessible to all individuals and communities.

Over the past couple of years, Ruben has worked with academics, organizers, politicians, and union leaders at Hustle, Honor and AltSchool focused on improving their personalized outreach, healthcare and education.

Ruben began his technology career working in Partnerships and Sales after writing a viral blog post called Breaking Into Startups about how moved to San Francisco without a job and landed a position 3 weeks later.

After receiving thousands of e-mails asking how to break into tech, Ruben Co-Founded the Breaking Into Startups Podcast to demystify the process, resulting in a social media reach of ~3 million people, 200,000+ downloads, 10,000+ website visits per month, over 100+ reviews on iTunes, a Facebook Community of 10,000+ people, and invitations to be a Contributor for TechCrunch and Black Enterprise.

Prior to working in tech, Ruben worked as an Investment Banker focused on Food, Consumer, and Retail companies in Chicago and Atlanta. As a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, he recruited others to focus on issues related to food security, climate change, and agriculture.

Career Karma is a member of Y Combinator's 2019 class and since then has been helping people that want to become software engineers by matching them with the right coding bootcamp and supporting them throughout their careers. Hundreds of millions of people will need to change jobs in the coming years. Career Karma gives them a placement quiz and gets them accepted at coding bootcamps and other training programs. With income-sharing agreements growing in popularity, plenty of job skill providers will be willing to pay to enroll the highest potential students.

Another epic initiative by Ruben and his team is their current Reskill America campaign. Covid - 19 has left over 42 million Americans without jobs over the last few weeks — disproportionately impacting low - income communities, women, and people of color.

The company is partnering with Diversity & Inclusion leaders and organizations to leverage the platform towards raising over $500,000 and giving away thousands of laptops to these communities impacted by Covid-19.
