El Tele finishes off lots of TV series, and touts the new album by Lottery Winners, featuring many special guests, and completes John Cooper Clarke's autobiography. We talk briefly (geddit) about men's pants and regrettably say goodbye to some giants : Smiths bassist Andy Rourke, Martin Amis and Tina Turner.

Senza il talento della traduttrice laureata quest’anno del premio speciale, probabilmente le voci di Aleksandar Hemon, Martin Amis, Sally Rooney, Miriam Toews e Cormac Mc Carthy non sarebbero arrivate al pubblico italofono con la stessa intensità e incidenza. Maurizia Balmelli, classe 1970, nata a Locarno e ora a Parigi, ha tradotto tra i più grandi narratori del nostro secolo, angolofoni e francofoni. Sue le traduzioni di Fred Vargas, Le Clezio, Emmanuèle Carrère, Yasmina Reza e Noëlle Revaz, quest’ultima le varrà il premio Terra Nova 2014 della fondazione Schiller per Rapport aux bêtes. Il suo lavoro ha contribuito a ampliare gli orizzonti della nostra lingua e a far parlare italiano la letteratura contemporanea. Un vero e proprio lavoro d’artigiano, finissimo e delicato, per il quale quasi ci vuole l’orecchio assoluto. Sì perché riuscire a trasportare in un'altra lingua, quindi un'altra cultura e un’altra costruzione sintattica, la stessa percezione del ritmo e la misura dell’originale, non è certo gioco da ragazzi. Un’alchimia, una capacità di sentire e poi riformulare, che la Balmelli mette in atto ogni volta con grande passione.
