    Keep Moving

    Keep Moving

Realtor and serial entrepreneur Kevin Cooper shares the wisdom he's gained from growing up in the 80s, serving in the military and his life as a businessman.

He was taught not to back down from a fight as a young man and has taken that lesson to heart. It served him well in the military where he served in combat during Desert Storm. It also served him well in a career change that required a deep dive into engineering and new skills. When faced with a challenge he stands his ground and achieves his objective. Listen to the life experiences that built this strong man.

Favorite song: What's Going On by Marvin Gaye.

Favorite words: "If you can't fly, then run, if you can't run, then walk, if you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Note: If you’re looking for the episode with story about avoiding biking on the side of the street with the cemetery, check out Iweze Ben Abudu.

About this podcast: In each episode, a Brother reflects on his life; explores the experience of being a Black man in America; shares his interactions with law enforcement; and answers the question "If America was a woman, what would you say to her?"

Every interview starts with getting-to-know-you questions about favorites, accomplishments and then goes deeper. You won't find a collection of conversations with Black men like this anywhere else. Hear their wisdom.

18- The Hasty Hare & Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century (1950s, Looney Tunes #6)

In this episode Kieran, Paul and I are back discussing Warner Bros. cartoons, and today it's a Marvin the Martian double-bill as we discuss 'The Hasty Hare' (which features our Bugs Bunny) and 'Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century' (which has Daffy Duck as the lead). Oh, and you can also hear quite a bit of conversation about the works of Ardman Animation in the back-end of the podcast.

    Chosen

    Chosen

He was chosen by his father and parishioners to Pastor True Vine Ministries in Oakland, California. He was chosen by his commitment to non-violence to lead Soldiers Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE). He was among those chosen to be on the stage at the 1995 Million Man March on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., able to look out and see the sea of beautiful Black men.

It takes a chosen one to recognize the chosen among us. Zach Carey is about to enlighten you on the chosen. And, if you've been wondering when you'd hear a Brother talk about reparations, strap in. Pastor Zachary Carey breaks this down and more.

Favorite song: Marvin Gaye's What's Going On.

    Favorite quote: Psalm 121.

RARE & SCRATCHY ROCK 'N ROLL – “THE TOP 40 LOST HITS OF 1965"

This episode spotlights 40 top 40 lost hits from the year 1965 – the tunes you never seem to hear on the radio, or the satellite or on anyone’s live stream anymore.

Talk about variety, we’ve got some dreamers and a Duke, a religious King and a Johann Sebastian Bach concerto that all rocked.

Somewhere in our list of hits there’s even a Cannon and a shotgun, so watch out for those.

And talk about family-friendly programming, we’ve also got the only father and son with their own individual top 40 hits in the same year.

Then there are several country singers who scored some of the biggest rock hits in this country.

As always, our resident Rockologist, Ken Deutsch, will be along to give us a little historical perspective about the tunes and times of the mid-1960s. And Radio Dave will have more of the greatest rock and roll stories on record. Hear it all here.
