Jesus didn’t say it here; He said it on the cross.

Jesus is known to be the wisest and most highly regarded teacher in all of humanity. More study has been devoted to His words than any other person. We are going to take some time to concentrate on all the things He didn’t say.  What words did Jesus NOT use when the media of his day shouted out a controversial question that would trap him no matter how He answered? What did He NOT say in personal conversations ? When Jesus had all the authority, all the knowledge, all the right, what did he NOT say? Come sit at the feet and listen to Jesus. His silence speaks as loud as His words.

    Tempted

    Tempted

(Sermon preached February 26, 2023) The story of the temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11) invites us to think about how temptation functions in our own lives.  In this sermon, I turn to the writings of Evagrius Ponticus and his "Eight Bad Thoughts," and then I add one of my own. Understanding how temptation is at work in our lives can help us to address it before it becomes sin.
