TOO SEXUALLY EXPLICIT FOR TV, BUT ALLOWED IN SCHOOLS!?!

TOO SEXUALLY EXPLICIT FOR TV, BUT ALLOWED IN SCHOOLS!?!
Not just Virginia's problem-coming to a school near you, too! Would you believe that an ad - banned by network television stations in Virginia - because it is unlawful to show such sexually explicit materials - is the current reading material provided to Virginia's students? Several local TV stations refused to air Independent Women’s Voice’s ad: “Worth 1,000 Words”, depicting sexually explicit materials available in VA public schools. Federal communications law prohibits televisions from showing adults such materials, even when the same materials have been available to kids in Virginia public schools. IWV accordingly created a modified version of its 30-second ad, which shows a blurred version of what kids see, to conform with that law. But today, stations again refused to air the ad, claiming it still is ostensibly not suitable for late night adult viewing. Today's guests, Kelsey Bolar and Julie Gunlock, are Senior Policy Analysts at Independent Women's Voice, an organization located in Washington, D.C. Both the first uncensored ad and the second with censored images may be viewed at ToxicSchools.org. Parents can also take action at the website and make their voices heard. Federal law prohibits TV stations from airing obscene, indecent or profane content, marketers must follow text message industry S.H.A.F.T regulations, and social media companies have similar rules in place that make it impossible to actually show the public the explicit content. Yet, when it comes to Virginia public school students, these protections are thrown out the window. In 2016, then-Governor McAuliffe vetoed a bill that would have allowed parents to block sexually explicit books in school, and in 2021 he stated that he didn’t think parents should have a say about what is imposed on their children. This is despite the specific protections Virginia law gives the rights of parents. Again, don't think this is only a problem for Virginia-it's coming to a school near you, too!

    School Wars (w/ Jennifer Berkshire)

    School Wars (w/ Jennifer Berkshire)

It seems almost every  big culture-war battle of the moment—from "Critical Race Theory" to COVID mandates—is being fought in America's schools. Meanwhile, Democrats, anxious about a midterm rout driven by angry Republican parents, too often are conceding these battles to the right, adopting their rhetoric and their terms of debate, and have been for a long time—despite supposedly being the party of teachers' unions.  Does it have to be this way?

We put that question, and many more, to our guest Jennifer Berkshire, the coauthor (with Jack Schneider) of A Wolf at the Schoolhouse Door and co-host of the education podcast Have You Heard.  Jennifer guides us through the recent history of conservatives' war on public education—fights over desegregation, the Reagan administration's A Nation at Risk, the "parents' rights" movement of the 1990s, Obama-era ed reform, and the CRT gag-orders sweeping the nation today. Along the way we tease out some illuminating contradictions in the right's nationalist coalition, which  seeks to cultivate a shared, sanitized story about American history while simultaneously dismantling the only system by which that narrative can be imposed. We also cast a critical eye on the triangulating, moderate Democrats who have utterly failed to provide a galvanizing, alternative message about the purpose of public education. As Jennifer makes brilliantly clear, the crisis of American education is real; the question is, who will be empowered to solve it?

S2E82 The Two Kens: What Trumpist Evangelicals Really Want

S2E82 The Two Kens: What Trumpist Evangelicals Really Want

Ken Fong and Ken Kemp review Fong's powerful conversation with Dr. Russell Jeung, named one of the Top 100 Global Influencers by TIME Magazine. Dr. Jeung is co-founder of Stop AAPI-HATE (Asian American hate). Conservative author, Jennifer Rubin's Washington Post article suggests that Evangelicals can never get what they really want. The recent Virginia election (Republican Youngkin defeats Democrat McAuliffe) brings the great divide into sharp focus. The two call up "dispensationalism" as a long-time filter for Biblical interpretation and "Biblical World-View."  The "Lost Cause" narrative drives much to this agenda. If this is all a failure of "discipleship" or "catechism" then what sort of discipleship would have made a difference? Replacement theory drives much of the fear of the loss of power.

Dems Blame Racism for Election Woes, Guest: JD Vance

More good news on today’s Breitbart News Daily podcast. Pres. Joe Biden thinks the lesson from Tuesday’s red wave is that he must pass a big government agenda. Many of his colleagues continue to claim they are victims of white supremacy, despite the diverse slate of Republicans elected. Alex breaks down the laughable conclusions drawn by the left-wing establishment. Plus, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) makes a bold move to make his state the forefront of the voter integrity movement. Then, JD Vance, best-selling author ('Hillbilly Elegy') and U.S. Senate candidate from Ohio, joins the podcast.

Red Wave Across Sleepy Joe's America, Guest: Emma-Jo Morris

Today on the Breitbart News Daily podcast - a red wave sweeps across the Republic! A big win for Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin, a star is born in Lt. Gov.-elect Winsome Sears and surprise victories for the GOP across the nation. It was very painful night for the Brandon administration, the Democrat establishment, the trans agenda, the teachers' unions, the CRT race hustlers, the Lincoln Project and especially the "Defund the Police" movement. And there's still a close governor's race in New Jersey - who knew?! Meanwhile, a defeated Pres. Joe Biden arrived back in the U.S. after polluting the planet and catching some Z's on his failed climate change adventure to Europe. Newly named Breitbart politics editor and Hunter Biden "Laptop from Hell" scoopster, Emma-Jo Morris, joins the show.

    Why Virginia shouldn’t surprise you

    Why Virginia shouldn’t surprise you
Glenn Youngkin has flipped Virginia red in an upset for Republicans. But as POLITICO’s Scott Bland reports, students of history should have seen the GOP comeback coming. Plus, Biden says he’ll announce his Fed nominees “fairly quickly.” And Sen. Josh Hawley blocks the confirmation of several State Department nominees. Scott Bland is a politics editor for POLITICO. Election Day in Virginia, Biden's Epic Nap, Guest: Mike Pompeo

Election Day in Virginia, Biden's Epic Nap, Guest: Mike Pompeo

Election day is here! Alex handicaps the Virginia governor’s race and breaks down the closing arguments from both Terry McAulife and Glenn Youngkin. From there, he discusses the latest setback to Pres. Biden's "Build Back Better" agenda: Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) has realized he's now being held hostage by his party's far-left contingent. And while climate change might be an "existential threat" to the entire world, the situation apparently isn't dire enough to keep Pres. Biden awake at the latest climate summit (COP26) in Scotland - Alex gives his thoughts on "Sleepy Joe's" epic nap. Then, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joins the program and weighs in on the Virginia governor's race, the China threat, COP26, the media's efforts to pit him against Pres. Donald Trump, and how legal redistricting can build a new, durable Republican majority.

Gas Prices Soar While We Wait for Virginia

Alex gives his take on Pres. Biden's climate change trip overseas and his meeting with Pope Francis. He then goes into the soaring gas prices across America and how they're affecting the American worker. And then, Alex previews the final hours before the election in Virginia for governor between Glenn Youngkin and Terry McAuliffe. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) is our highlighted interview and he covers his interaction with the Attorney General last week calling for him to resign. How Glenn Youngkin could become the education governor we need?

On Tuesday next week, Virginia voters will be selecting their next governor.

They’ll be choosing between Clinton-era Democrat and former governor Terry McAuliffe, and the Republican nominee—Glenn Youngkin, a very successful businessman.

If Youngkin wins—and I believe he will—it will be as a result of the issue of education, which has become the central issue of the Virginia’s governor’s campaign.

McAuliffe struck a nerve with Virginia voters when—in their final debate—he told Youngkin what he actually really believes:

“I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach”

Youngkin was right to press back immediately—and press back hard.

Youngkin has promised to return parents to a place of authority over their kids’ education. He could become the “education governor,” serving as a model for other governors across the nation—he’s promising to do that.

All the momentum is with Youngkin, but Virginia voters … of course … will decide.

They should not take anything for granted. They should get out there and vote!

Episode 7 - Joining God In Our Schools (With Richard and Susan Lazarou) - Audio

Episode 7 - Joining God In Our Schools (With Richard and Susan Lazarou) - Audio
Sometimes when we ask a school if they'd like a church partner, they tell us they've been praying for a church partner for years! Willowridge football coach Richard Lazarou was even more proactive: he joined us for a Loving Houston workshop, reached out to churches in the area, and connected Willowridge HS with Second Baptist South. That partnership has been going on for 5 years, and has now expanded to McAuliffe Middle School and Blueridge Elementary! Hear Richard and Susan's story, and be encouraged by how God is already working in our schools! (P.S. Check out http://www.beundivided.com to hear the Be Undivided story Susan mentions, or contact us to purchase a video at info@lovinghouston.net.) (Please note: We didn't set up correctly for this podcast, so Susan's audio is a bit quieter than the others'. We apologize for the inconvenience!) --- Richard has been the Head Football Coach and Campus Athletic Coordinator at Willowridge High School in Fort Bend ISD for the last seven years and has been teaching and coaching for the last twenty years. Richard is also a Deacon and Bible Study teacher at Second Baptist South Campus and has been extremely blessed by this Church/School partnership. He graduated from Kempner High School which is located in Fort Bend ISD and has a degree in History from the University of Houston. Richard was born in Schenectady, NY, on a dairy farm but has been living in the great city of Houston, TX, since 1984. He is married his to beautiful wife, Susan, who also works at Willowridge High School. They met while teaching at Fort Bend ISD's Austin High School in 2005, and they have been working together in schools ever since. Susan is the Math Instructional Coach at Willowridge High School and has been in education since 2005. She is an Adult Bible Study teacher at Second Baptist Church’s South Campus, and has a BA in Mathematics from Texas A&M University (Gig ‘Em!). Raised in Lake Jackson, Texas, Susan has lived in the Houston area since 2005. She married her wonderful husband Richard in March of 2007, and enjoys spending time with him loving their community.
