    Heather Lean - Angel Grandma

    Heather Lean - Angel Grandma

Heather lives in New York with her husband, two children, and four cats – Dora, Geppetto, Sasha and Oreo. After grieving the loss of her mother-in-law and her own mother, she took up writing. When Heather was pregnant with her second child, her mother in law, Laura died suddenly and a year later, Heather’s own mother succumbed to her battle with early onset Alzheimer’s. Heather turned to meditation and spirituality to appease her sadness.  What followed was peace, serenity and inner calmness.

Heather says that if her book helps even one child it’s worth it, but her wish is for it touch and comfort many hearts. Furthermore, she is committed to giving back. She believes we gain far more from giving than we ever can from receiving. A portion of the net proceeds of Heather’s books will be donated to children’s charities.

309: Reflecting on previous episodes of the Colombia Calling podcast with Joseph Czikk

309: Reflecting on previous episodes of the Colombia Calling podcast with Joseph Czikk
Episode 309 is an entertaining look at the Colombia Calling podcast as Richard McColl moves from being the host to the interviewee and Joseph Czikk takes over. Long-time listener of the Colombia Calling podcast and self-declared "Colombia Evangelist,"Joseph Czikk made a suggestion over email to me that he be permitted to record a podcast episode with him as the host talking to me and having me reflect on some of the more memorable shows over the years dating back to 2016.

304: How can Colombia overcome the narco-legacy hangover?
Michael Sichenzia is looking out for the underdog and as an investor in a small furniture business in Yumbo, southwest Colombia, close to the city of Cali, he has a vested interest in the stability and economy of the country. We get him on the line from Florida and speak to him about various topics, most importantly and timely are of course the way in which the current protests in Colombia could affect business and foreign direct investment

300: Trojana: exploring Colombia's pornographic webcam industry
In a critique of the pornographic webcam industry, Maud Madlyn and Andres Montes Zuluaga go where many have never even considered going, they sign up to become webcam models in order to better understand the dynamics behind this business to open a debate around sexual violence and gender violence in Colombia. Tune in to hear about the darker side of the webcam world in Colombia, from a man and a woman, who decided to explore it for themselves, as the observed.

298: Freelance foreign correspondent Dylan Baddour talks to Colombia Calling

298: Freelance foreign correspondent Dylan Baddour talks to Colombia Calling
Hailing from Texas, Dulan Baddour cut his teeth in journalism before heading down south to Colombia. Here, he reports on issues talking place in Colombia and the fall out from the humanitarian tragedy currently on-going in Venezuela. Perhaps my favourite piece written by Baddour is about former FARC guerrillas, who are trying to make a life of it beyond the reintegration camps run by the government.

    Alastair MacColl

    Alastair MacColl
It’s quite something to employ 345 people and run a £34.5 million business that people think is public property, but that’s exactly what Alastair MacColl is doing at Business & Enterprise North East Ltd!  He and his team are in the business of business development!  Working under contract for the RDA, LSC and a number of Local Authorities, they are currently best known for the delivery of Business Link Services and (in these troubled times) innovating to offset the impact of the downturn. If you want to learn more about Alastair’s private sector mindset, the business importance of clear communications, the seriousness with which he takes his role, the range of services on offer from Business Link (and how they can best be accessed), what Business Link can do for your business, and/or challenges that face Business & Enterprise North East’s own business development …this conversation is a must!
