    Rockcast 358 - Austin Meade

    Rockcast 358 - Austin Meade
Texas alt-blues-rock songwriter and bonafide rockstar Austin Meade pops on to say hi. Drinking a beer and talking rock and roll, the way it should be. Honestly though has his new song "Blackout" continues to rise up the charts I thought it was a good time to get an introduction to a guy who's breathing a breath of fresh air into the modern rock landscape by doing it his way and "not giving a f***" what anyone thinks.

Episode 46: The Battletown Witch Festival Part 2

Episode 46: The Battletown Witch Festival Part 2

This episode is best viewed on YouTube on S.B. Pearce's channel. Find it in the Strange Bluegrass Playlist.

Join S.B. Pearce as she attends the 2nd annual Battletown Witch Festival in Brandenburg, Kentucky. Hear the tragic story of Leah Smock, a gifted young lady accused of witchcraft. Ultimately, her life ended at the tender age of 21, and she bears the title of being the last witch burned in the United States. The festival was created to celebrate her life and to mourn her untimely, and grisly death.

You'll meet Lady V, High Priestess of Louisville, watch the Sisters of the Dancing Moon perform the German witch dance called Wolfshager Hexenbrut, see the adult costume contest, and listen to Kay Hamilton, descendent of Leah and Kentucky author who wrote the definitive book on her ancestor, Burned As A Witch: The Legend of Leah Smock. You can also browse the wares of many fine local artists, many of which cater to a particular pagan path.

018 Michael Meade – Standing on the Threshold

Renowned storyteller and scholar of mythology, anthropology, and psychology Michael Meade draws from his study of archetypal myths, ancestral wisdom and cross-cultural rituals to interpret our remarkable moment in human history. While many of us are attempting to recognize our own self-terminating patterns and inhabit new ways of being human, Michael helps us to see the stories we are living, and the new stories that are calling us.

Michael is the author of many books, including The Genius Myth, Fate and Destiny, Why the World Doesn’t End and The Water of Life.  He is also the founder of Mosaic Multicultural Foundation, a nonprofit organization that initiates innovative projects and unifying events that support and educate at-risk youth, refugees, combat veterans, and communities in need.

In this episode, Kurt Willems talks about a self-proclaimed "Christian Numerologist" and multi-failed rapture predictor, David Meade. The conspiracy theories continue to abound, especially when it comes to using numbers and constellations in the sky to predict a rapture. But here's the deal: apocalyptic language doesn't function like that in the Hebrew Scriptures or when the New Testament utilizes it.

    MEADE GOUGEON HAS SAILED AWAY

This issue is a collection of my own personal recollections of a long friendship with Meade, founder of WEST System epoxy products. We are also posting a link on the show notes page for this podcast episode at OutRigMedia to the full manuscript of an article I wrote for WoodenBoat about Meade.

In another audio we will collect a number of comments made by others of Meade's friends.  We have lost a pillar in the marine community, and a loss is a loss.  However, Meade and his brothers have shown -- by example -- how boats, and life, are done well.

Letters from Lincoln -George Meade and Joe Hooker- Part 2

Letters from Lincoln -George Meade and Joe Hooker- Part 2
We sometimes encounter challenging or difficult personalities in our professional or personal lives. Our 16th President was no exception. Abraham Lincoln had lots on his plate and was masterful at working through all kinds on people to meet the challenges of his day. How do we tap into and apply an individual’s strengths while navigating their weaknesses? What are the best ways to handle an emotionally upset person? How best to offer constructive criticism without it being perceived as persecution? When should we be willing to apologize? How to address poor judgment and maintain a solid leadership reputation? What to do with the “loose cannon” type personality? If your organization or team is looking for sound, practical management tips and tools that can be applied immediately, you won’t want to miss this VoltCast Letters from Lincoln - (George Meade & Joe Hooker) hosted by Voltage Principal Consultant Lee Hubert with Special Guest Steve K. Rogstad.

Episode 93: Grand Master Wine Geek, Yo

You may have those wine geek friends. You may be that wine geek friend. We may be those wine geeks who may have had a little too much fun with this episode. Either way, we’ve all experienced uncomfortable slurping and spitting situations. Steph and Val dive to the bottom of the spit bucket to banter about keeping our inner – and outer - wine geek in check. Steph has a great factoid about Meade. Val tries to rap. We’re gettin’ silly with it. (Recorded Dec 2016)

1602 Ranald Slidell Mackenzie - Part 1 The Civil War

1602 Ranald Slidell Mackenzie - Part 1 The Civil War

On January 20, 1889, the following death notice appeared in the New York Times: "MACKENZIE—At New Brighton, Staten Island, on the 19th of January, Brig. Gen. Ranald Slidell Mackenzie, United States Army, in the 48th year of his age." Such a death notice, lacking much detail into his life and career, could be expected if the officer was a minor figure of the late 19th century army, having played little or no role in the Civil War or the more recent Indian Wars. However, this notice is not fitting for an officer who graduated at the top of his class at West Point in 1862 and in three short years, rose to the rank of brevet major general.
