When Cancer Treatment is Over: A Surprisingly Stressful Time

When Cancer Treatment is Over: A Surprisingly Stressful Time

When cancer treatment is finished, people expect to feel happy. Some do, of course,  but many don't.

Any serious illness can be scary, but finishing chemotherapy or radiation can leave people feeling unsettled because the close attention from the oncology team ends.

And family and friends may expect the person to go back to "normal" but the patient may feel anything but normal.

It is important to support people through this time, and let them know that their experience is not unusual.

Who's Afraid of Buprenorphine?: An Interview with Dr. Ben Thompson

Buprenorphine gets a bad rap. Many physicians aren't clear on how to use it and we tend to shy away from things we don't understand.

But what if a patient comes onto your service who is taking buprenorphine? We really shouldn't turn our collective heads away from this potentially very useful medication. Instead, we should learn more and increase our comfort so we can best care for all of our patients.

That's where Dr. Ben Thompson comes in. He shares his expertise in using buprenorphine for patients with addiction and also for patients without addiction who suffer from pain. Did you know that buprenorphine might be just the right medication for an older, frail patient? Come listen and you'll understand why.

Fibromyalgia is a challenging condition for both the patient and the physician. There is no quick fix and no magic medication that will fix fibromyalgia pain. With an integrative, multidimensional approach, however, people with fibromyalgia can absolutely feel better!

Dr. Ziegenbein is a rheumatologist and expert in fibromyalgia. She shares her approach for helping patients with fibromyalgia reduce their pain and regain the joy in their life.  You will love this episode!

Dr. Ziegenbein has a podcast called Winning at Fibromyalgia and a Facebook group of the same name. She has a private fibromyalgia coaching practice in addition to her standard rheumatology practice.  She can be reached at www.winningatfibromyalgia.com
