    Dr John A King is an author, poet, long-time activist and founder of the Give Them A Voice Foundation - a foundation he launched with his wife Melissa to provide advocacy, support, resources and rescue for those who have been sexually abused or trafficked.

    In this episode, we speak with John and Melissa, about sex trafficking, child exploitation and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). John shares about his experience being sexually abused and trafficked by his parents when he was just a young boy.

    After a total recall of all the memories he suppressed for decades, John’s began the gritty process of rebuilding his life after the onset of Complex Post Traumatic Stress. Together with his wife Melissa, John has authored several books and resources that are designed to help others overcome the trauma they experienced. You will also hear from Melissa who shares how loved ones can support those living with PTSD and help them with their recovery journey.

    Top Chef All-Stars Winner Melissa King

    Top Chef recently crowned Melissa King the winner of Season 17 after an epic showdown in Italy. As a returning finalist from Season 12, Melissa competed among the fiercest group of All Stars yet. She snagged both the $250,000 prize and the Fan Favorite award. It was a powerful moment for Melissa, a freelance chef and proud representative of both the LGBTQ+ and Asian-American communities. Melissa joins us to talk about her win, how she’s changed in the six years between her two Top Chef appearances, and how she’s building her business with intention and community in mind. We also talk about those small-batch sauces of hers that sold out in literally two minutes.
