    Applique mending

    Applique mending

Applique is a great way to mend anything really and Katrine of Mending Mayhem runs through a few techniques she uses.

Reverse applique is a great way to use layers of fabrics to mend and add wonderful design features. Katrine gives us some tips to make this an easy and eye catching feature.

She also discusses using water soluble stabilisers and iron on adhesives. These are easy to use but you do need to know how your fabric will behave with these fabrics.

Katrine discusses the ways she uses these techniques to extend the life of her clothes in a way that adds to their design. Make sure you listen to all of Katrine's mending podcasts. She is dedicated to spreading the word about mending through this podcast and on her social media platforms. Each week Katrine shares mending inspirations across the mending world on Mending Mayhem.

    Katrine for MendMarch

    Katrine for MendMarch

MendMarch starts in a few days time. Katrine of Mending Mayhem is back to talk about all the mending options she uses when she takes part in this challenge each year.

Kate Sekules hosts this month long challenge that anyone can hop into or just watch what happens. Kate will be on the next Sewing save and Mending podcast so keep an eye out for her podcast debut.

Tricia is also mentioned as she was a recent Mending Mayhem guest and you'll always see Tricia featured on Sewover50 as a wonderful contributor to the sewing community.

Everyone in Katrine's family can mend and enjoys the mending they do. Make sure you listen to all the mending options Katrine undertakes each year for MendMarch.

    Crochet mending

    Crochet mending

Katrine from Mending Mayhem for the Sewing Save Series shares examples where crochet is used to mend. There are a few ways you can use crochet to extend the life of so many clothes, so we can continue to reuse our clothes. Extending the life of existing clothes helps reduces landfill.

Katrine also share a Christmas sewing save story. Her investigative work and commitment to bring you a fitting sewing save for December has now made Katrine fill happy again. Once you hear this story you'll realise there is always some type of historical significance when you save clothing or homewares.

Many thanks to Katrine for sharing her mending experience each month.

    Mending Mayhem part 2

    Mending Mayhem part 2

In part 2, we discuss the breadth of the mending community and more importantly how mending brings good memories to both the mender and the recipient of the mended item.

Mending does extend to anything, and you'll hear more about this from Katrine and Suzie.

    Mend don't spend.

    Mending Mayhem part 1

    Mending Mayhem part 1

Katrine and Suzie are the Mending mayhem team. Mending is part of their daily lives and not just mending clothes. Mending is done with love.

Every item has more than one life and mending is an everyday part of their lives.

Katrine lives in Norway and comes from a family of textile crafters and Suzie lives in the Isle of Wight and is a textiles artist. They teamed up last year after Mending March to keep the mending message alive on Instagram.

The visible mending movement (over 76,000 IG posts) was one of Suzie's starting points to show the benefits of mending. Mend March is another great hashtag to follow.
