The Tabernacle has many components, one of which is the Menorah. What is the menorah? What did it look like, and what purpose did it serve in the Tent of Meeting? Is there any spiritual or even prophetic significance to having a lampstand in the Tabernacle? 

The ninth portion of Torah brings a whirlwind of emotions to its protagonists, not to mention to us, as readers. The long-awaited resolution of the profound family divide that has existed since the story of the pit seems to evaporate as Joseph reveals himself and the men are reconciled. There is, of course, one man who is not yet in Egypt for this reunion, but it will not be long until Jacob, their father and our patriarch, arrives. But, in near perfect contrast, the gruelling famine that Joseph had foreseen continues, unrelentingly. This is almost the end of the Genesis adventures and the story is set up perfectly for a glorious conclusion.

Hanukkah this year (2022) begins on the evening of December 18 and is celebrated for eight days. While it is not one of the Levitical Feasts outlined in the Torah, it is an historical feast celebrated by Jews worldwide, and even Yeshua (Jesus) recognized it. In this episode Jeffrey D. Like an advent calendar, but with less religious-affiliation and only slightly less chocolate, the 2016 Audio Advent Calendar was born. It was too good to hear just once.

It actually goes back to the Ancient Greeks and burning candles in religious ceremonies, including to pay tribute to the goddess Artemis who is associated with the moon. They baked cakes to symbolize the shape of the moon and added candles to represent moonlight.

Though cakes are delicious, they can’t really be used as a weapon for MURDER. But another candleholder can ...
