MetalsPeak 71 - Don't Eat The Cake sPeak

MetalsPeak 71 - Don't Eat The Cake sPeak
Shenanigans abound this time around! Plus our first female guest host! Zing Jerelyn, lol... Chelsea joins us to talk about top 5 songs for refusing a body scan at the airport - turns out she has experience with this one. Could it be that our topics are actually becoming relevant? Tune in for her story (which involves actual metal) and decide for yourself! Plus a longer than anticipated tangent on "Breaking Bad". If you haven't seen the show, you have homework: 1) take an official personality test 2) marathon the entire series 3) re-take the same test 4) report back to us with your results from both tests. And we spin “Serpent’s Coil” by Centimani and “Gut Bucket” (But, Fuck It) by Alabaster Morgue. Also, if we only leave you with two words ever, let them be: Feltch Cake

    MetalsPeak 70 - Frumunda sPeak

    MetalsPeak 70 - Frumunda sPeak
Oh yeah!!!! Starting off the new year right! ... Right? Top 5 songs for refusing to reciprocate oral. Check out this Louie clip if you need some inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhF7-QreW2I Plus you know it's gonna be a good year for metal when bands like Ass To Mouth and Arsebreed are putting shit out... so there's that to look forward to. And we take a quick detour to sing the praises of the most intensely draining TV show in history.

    MetalsPeak 69 - Credibility sPeak

    MetalsPeak 69 - Credibility sPeak
What better way to prove we know what we're talking about than with a comprehensive list of our top 10 albums of 2013? How could we possibly screw that up? We couldn't! And we didn't. At least not until the very end. Jared also shared some thoughts on the Fallujah, Sonic Vomit, Vital Malice, and Omnym show. This was Vital Malice's last show guitarist and one time bassist, Nick. Sad to see him go but we wish him the best - and guess who's taking the empty spot? MetalsPeak's own, Leggz! We can only assume that his Celebrity from co-hosting this show opened a door that otherwise would have been shut... He's welcome. And Jared also checked out the Thy Art Is Murder, Fit For An Autopsy, I Declare War, The Last 10 Seconds Of Life, Kublai Khan show. On a somewhat related note, make sure you stick around to the very end of this episode for some choice FFAA outtakes. We also spin “Afterlife” by Cambion and “The New American Dream” by Tree Of Woe.

    MetalsPeak 68 - Sensitivity sPeak

    MetalsPeak 68 - Sensitivity sPeak
I'm sensing a theme over the last few episodes here... most _______ topic ever. We took care of "most depressing" already, so naturally the next step is "most uncomfortable" and with that (and a bounty of apologies) we present our Top 5 songs that sound racist, but aren't. At least our seat in Hell will be nice and warm when we get there... We also spin "Torched Skin" by Try Redemption and “Recapitate Your Enemies” by Fistlord.

    MetalsPeak 67 - Chunkin sPeak

    MetalsPeak 67 - Chunkin sPeak
Mission Accomplished! What better way to lighten the mood after our space death topic than with the festive frivolity of punkin chunkin... with severed heads... right?!?!? Right. Why severed heads? Because metals. That's why. We also chime in on the hilarious awkwardness that was Marilyn Manson's (Bob from Chattanooga) appearance on Talking Dead. And, if you haven't already, make sure you check out the "This Tour Is Personal" tour happening now with Periphery, Born Of Osiris, Dead Letter Circus, and Twelve Foot Ninja. And then let us know if the full-beer-toss is a new thing that the kids are doing these days. Maybe we're just getting old... fuck. We also spin “Rat Eater” by Toxic Holocaust and “Iami” by Vital Malice

    MetalsPeak 66 - Decompression sPeak

    MetalsPeak 66 - Decompression sPeak
Even though Daigle is the only one of us so far to see "Gravity", the topic of a horribly painful death in space (and of course what songs you'd want serenading you through said awfulness) was well received. Unfortunately, Daigle succumbed to reading into the unpleasantness of what would actually happen in this scenario, which resulted in mass bummer syndrome, a la the infamous Bud Dwyer incident. If nothing else this episode gives excuse for another ridiculous donkey-show-bucket-esque topic, so look forward to that! Also this time out, we heard from Jared and Leggz on the Katatonia, Cult of Luna, TesseracT, and Intronaut show and interviews conducted. And we checked out "Perdition" and "The Separation" by Colorado Springs' own Vital Malice.

MetalsPeak 65 - Go With Us On This sPeak

MetalsPeak 65 - Go With Us On This sPeak
Let's face it. This topic was inevitable. At some point, everyone hears a song and thinks, "Hey, that would make a killer metal cover!" We are no exception. And so we submit to you, our immense and faithful listener base, 20 songs that are screaming to be covered by metal bands. Plus we go the extra mile and throw in our picks for the bands that should do said covers. Hell. Yes. Other points of interest include Daigle's recap of Metallica's appearance on The Colbert Report, and Jared's run-throughs of the Kelly Clarkson and Psyclon Nine Denver tour stops. Just to clarify - those were two separate shows. Kelly isn't set to release/tour on her industrial material until 2019 at the earliest. Sad face. Also, if you need any background on Daigle's #9 pick below, check these videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWTL5pKYofY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHql0-UgyO4 http://www.thelonelyisland.com/video/the-shooting-aka-Dear-sister Oh yeah and Daigle takes the opportunity to shamelessly plug a cover of Katy Perry's ET he did a couple years ago.

MetalsPeak 64 - AAGH AGHA AAAAGH sPeak

MetalsPeak 64 - AAGH AGHA AAAAGH sPeak
You can always count on us to provide you with a great soundtrack for the most important moments in your life; like when you have pass a kidney stone. Of course one of your first priorities during this momentous occasion is determining the appropriate playlist. And that is why we do what we do. Daigle took a moment to eat crow on his assumption of how "An Infinite Regression" is played, credit to Leggz for mentioning the utterly mind boggling tutorial on YouTube. HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. BALLS. We also hear from Jared on the The Acacia Strain, Within The Ruins, Fit For An Autopsy, and American Me show and interview with FFAA. Sounds like it was an epic night. And we spin “Thank You Budd Dwyer” by Fit For An Autopsy, “Feeding Frenzy” by Within The Ruins, and "Go Green" by Fistlord (which features none other than MetalsPeak's own Stu) Oh yeah, we also explain how to play Missile Command on YouTube. So you'll want to at least listen for that, just in case you think you don't need a playlist for passing a stone... which you do.

MetalsPeak 63 - Slaughter sPeak II

MetalsPeak 63 - Slaughter sPeak II
Nothing recharges your metal batteries quite like a brilliant live performance - and when you're lucky enough to see several over the course of a weekend, you feel like you could snort your own loogies. Such was the case this past weekend, sans loogies - let's face it, nobody can touch Travis Ryan on that. Between Vapor Fest at The Black Sheep and Summer Slaughter at The Ogden, it was one of the best weekends for metal in recent memory. We heard from Jared on Vapor Fest bands Tree Of Woe, Kill Syndicate, Betrayal, Reflections, Within The Ruins (including interview with vocalist Tim Goergen), Oceano, and All Shall Perish who never disappoints. Then we discussed the amazingness that was Summer Slaughter including local favorites Vital Malice, Thy Art is Murder, Rings of Saturn, Aeon (and interview with vocalist Tommy Dahlström), Revocation (and interview with guitarist/vocalist Dave Davidson), The Ocean (and interview with guitarist Robin Stapps), Cattle Decapitation (and interview with guitarist Josh Elmore), Norma Jean, Periphery, Animals As Leaders, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. And then we treat you to our picks for who should be on the 2014 Summer Slaughter tour. By the way, you owe it to yourself to check out Jared's prior interview with Robin Stapps in preparation for this new one. And, just a teaser for now - Daigle completely underestimated what's actually happening in "An Infinite Regression" by Animals As Leaders. After the show, You Tube set him straight. He'll cover this on the next episode but for now we'll just say, "HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS"

    MetalsPeak 62 - Recruit sPeak

    MetalsPeak 62 - Recruit sPeak
We believe that children are our future. Teach them metal and let them slay the way... just be sure to tell them not to get into a van with Lars Ulrich. While we haven't yet put these into practice, we feel we've laid out solid lists of songs for indoctrinating your kids into metaldom. Stay tuned to future episodes to find out if our kids agree! It's important to note that Stu does not have kids. But thanks to a clip from "The Brothers Solomon" we found some great tips for him to find an eager youngster to share his wealth of metal knowledge with. Hopefully he won't have to deal with any pain in the ass moms... We also hit some highlights on new releases over the next couple weeks. And feature “Eno” by Acillatem and “Utopia” by Dreadnought.

MetalsPeak 61 - So Tight sPeak

MetalsPeak 61 - So Tight sPeak
We keep it going this time around. More catchy than the glue board I just accidentally stepped on and can't get my sock off of now; we present our top 5 vocal hooks! Also - full disclosure: Daigle couldn't help himself from mentioning the huge but totally unrelated news story from yesterday regarding author Robert Galbraith's true identity. Yep. Next couple weeks are gonna be a bit slow for new releases, but we spin two tracks from the 8/6 releases from Exhumed and Revocation. These tracks, "Coins Upon The Eyes" and "The Hive", will rip your face off your face. Also, Legz shares his thoughts on the Denver stop of the Rockstar Mayhem Fest. And if you're playing the MetalsPeak home game... Cody's intros: 3 | Cody's presence: 0

MetalsPeak 60 - Food Chain sPeak

MetalsPeak 60 - Food Chain sPeak
You can always count on us to provide you with a playlist to perfectly accompany the most obscure and potentially unlikely scenarios you'll ever encounter. Great example: If you're in a survival situation and you need to resort to cannibalism, what songs do you have playing in the background? Totally legitimacy happening right now. Jared also shares his thoughts on Australian tech death band Entrails Eradicated and their first show in Colorado Springs. And we make up for the serious lack of rage over the last several episodes with another edition of "Shit That Pisses Jared Off"... or at least "pisses off initially but has migrated to a level of frustrated aggravation." And then yep - we go over top 5 songs for resorting to cannibalism in a survival situation. I feel like a broken record here but, you're welcome. Also, we spin “Waste By Definition” by Mumakil and “Deadfall” by Atropos Project.

MetalsPeak 59 - Epic Battle sPeak

MetalsPeak 59 - Epic Battle sPeak
Cody was unusually quiet this go around... meh. Nonetheless we had fun going over our top 5 songs for epic battles. June 11th is going to be a big release day - be prepared to go broke. We also heard from Jared and Legz about the 5/21 Opeth and Katatonia show in Boulder, plus bonus tranny pic snagged semi-incognito (http://www.tryredemption.com/metalspeak/images/Tranny.jpeg). And mark your calendars for Gutfest 5 6/28 and 6/29 at Sunshine Studios. We also spun “Into the Everblack” by Black Dahlia Murder, “Primitive Killing Machine” by Blood Red Throne, and an extra special treat: the beautifully remastered music from Jurassic Park (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bc0MhckLXE).

MetalsPeak 58 - Leather Donut sPeak

MetalsPeak 58 - Leather Donut sPeak
There may come a day where we fail to top out top 5 topics... but it is not this day! Behold the top 5 songs for keeping Bubba off your balloon knot while in the slammer. And for those of you playing the MetalsPeak home game, the password is: sriracha enema. We also go through some upcoming releases, hear Cody's thoughts on the Fear Factory show, and get a quick update on the Riff Rag. And if you're in the Colorado Springs area, keep your eyes out for these shows: - Havok CD release at The Black Sheep June 22nd - Try Redemption opening for Apparitions and Mouth Of The Serpent at The Black Sheep July 3rd - Fistlord opening for Impending Doom at The Black Sheep July 19th Tunes this go around are "Lift" by Dreadnought and "Overcome" by Hacride. And finally, because it may or may not have anything to do with the top 5 topic, we take a Greek style look at the recent Tim Lambesis situation.

    MetalsPeak 57 - Tijuana sPeak

    MetalsPeak 57 - Tijuana sPeak
If nothing else, this episode is a lesson in how to reinvent and expand your product. Six words: Polyrhythmic jizz bong Tijuana diarrhea nipples. Here are our top 5 songs for getting dysentery from drinking out of the bucket at a donkey show. What bucket, you say? You know what bucket. You're scared, you say? You should be. We also go over some upcoming releases to look out for and spend a few moments lamenting the passing of Jeff Hanneman, including Jared's thoughts on the Westboro Baptist Church picketing his funeral. Good luck, fuckers. And we check out the sweet “Ordinary World” cover by Mechina and "The Diplomat" by Pig Destroyer. Also, on a completely unrelated topic, if you haven't checked out the merged face GIFs on The Chive, you need to. Right now!

MetalsPeak 56 - Soil Factory sPeak

MetalsPeak 56 - Soil Factory sPeak
Some sites may say they push the envelope but here's proof that we walk that talk. In this episode, we slam your ear drums with more hosts than ever in MetalsPeak history PLUS a live studio audience! Daigle, Jared, Matt, Legz, and Stu discuss highlights of both the Soilwork and Fear Factory tours, whilst Cody trembles in girlish anticipation of the Jacksonville stops of said tours. All while Fistlord drummer Gentry listens in and basically has the time of his life. Yep. It's pretty epic in here. We also go through a few upcoming releases, and check out "The Ramblings Of Madmen" and "Scattered By The Storm" by Fields of Elysium. And a triumphant return of the ferocity that is the shuffle battle. Plus, if you're in the Southern Colorado area, keep your eye out for a new publication called "The Riff Rag" - a free publication from your favorite sweet hard rocker in Another Shade of Hate.

    MetalsPeak 55 - Amputee sPeak

    MetalsPeak 55 - Amputee sPeak
If you're ever in a situation where you need to amputate a limb (either your own or someone else's) you'll be glad you listened to this episode. Since we know you've been waiting patiently for us to get to this, here are our top 5 songs to have a limb amputated to. You're welcome. Also, we run through some new releases to look forward to, share a couple thoughts on "New MySpace" and check out “The Master Key” by Daliss Koyal and “Laced Baby Food” by Amputee Pool Party. And then we take advantage of the shorter episode by getting completely side tracked with unrelated topics like the hornswaggle, the backshaft gargle, and Ken Tamplin.

    MetalsPeak 54 - Flash sPeak

    MetalsPeak 54 - Flash sPeak
Who at some point in their life hasn't asked themselves, "What metal song should I coordinate a flash mob to?" The answer of course, is no one. And now you can finally compare your picks with ours. You're welcome. We also talk about Jonathan Carpenter's departure from The Contortionist, revisit our Summer Slaughter predictions, and go over new releases to look forward to (seriously, you need to check out Cnoc An Tursa). And then on a personal note, Try Redemption is "homeless" and needs a space to practice - so we took the self serving opportunity to play "Bleeding Eyes" and "Black Skies" to give our listeners insight in to the magic you could right have in your home. Call now! Operators are standing by! Also enjoy videos of Jared's Thriller flash mob and The Ohio State marching band doing amazing stuff. Come on children!

    MetalsPeak 53 - Meltdown sPeak

    MetalsPeak 53 - Meltdown sPeak
Ever have that moment in your life when your tech gear decides your day needs to be ruined? Ever wonder what songs should be playing during that catastrophe? Well wonder no more! For your listening pleasure, we present our top 5 songs for technology meltdowns. Also, we discuss the Reddit NIN troll. Feed that guy shit tacos. And we play “‘sblood” by Inter Arma and “Elephtheria” by Mechina.

    MetalsPeak 52 - Disaster sPeak

    MetalsPeak 52 - Disaster sPeak
So right at the end of the editing process for this episode, Daigle's hard drive decided to take a nice healthy Rumpelstiltskin-esque shit. Now, over a week later, the situation has been remedied, but we can't remember a damn thing about this episode and are too lazy to listen back. Actually that's not true - we remember that someone named Cody made a powerful comeback, and that we went over our picks for top 5 disasters. This was a creative spin on our format as we picked songs for each of the following disasters: Zombie Apocalypse Polar Shift Alien Invasion Asteroid Collision Bieber Fever
