Punk, Authenticity, and the Exvangelicals (feat. Joel Harrison)

Josiah is joined by Joel Harrison (@profjharrison) of uswithoutThem to discuss the book he’s writing on Christian music of the 1990s and 2000s, specifically bands signed on to Tooth & Nail. This serves as an entry point to discuss the broader religious and political development of millennial evangelicals and the rise of “deconstruction” or exvangelical movements.

    What's Up Woodstock Episode 0033 - moe.

Brian is playing music on the road on tour with a band he's in, so the remaining usuals are joined by Brandon Beaver, successful guitarist for mewithoutyou and Buried Beds. Beaver (as he's known) has some fun showbiz tales to share, and Pat lets us in on the latest craze for jam band enthusiasts. Speaking of jam bands, today's set is by moe. Welp (Brandon w/ Clips from Redfoot's Cort Basham, Doc from Re-Education Camp, and Derek from Sempervivi)
Brandon discusses why he would most want to collaborate with Damien Jurado, a master melody maker (on guitar and vocally) and a haunting songwriter even when very little story detail is given. He also talks about why he would love to produce an album with Dan Smith of Danielson Family fame, not only because of his unique approach to art structurally, but also because of his work on "Seven Swans" by Sufjan Stevens and "It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All a Dream! It's Alright" by mewithoutYou.

We also hear from Redfoot's Cort Basham, Doc from Re-Education Camp, and Derek from Sempervivi with their picks.
