Patrick und sein kundiger Gast Kai Wustlich wundern sich doch sehr darüber, was 1968 im Kino so möglich war. Oder auch nicht, wenn man bedenkt, dass Regisseur Michael Reeves mit Händen und Füßen dafür kämpfte, seine Version von Der Hexenjäger (Witchfinder General, 1968) ohne Zensurkürzungen in die britischen Kinos zu bringen. Dass er sich dabei gleich mit seinem Hauptdarsteller Vincent Price überwarf, der hier eine der besten Schauspielleistungen seiner Karriere zeigt, überrascht kaum noch. Warum das grausige Historienstück des viel zu früh verstorbenen Reeves ein Wiedersehen lohnt und sozusagen die teuflische Ursuppe des gesamten Witchploitation-Subgenres bildet, erläutern die beiden gar nicht furchterregenden Herren in ihrem Filmgespräch.
