    90. Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and Realistic Thinking: Earthkeeping in Jordan, with Mohammad Asfour

What are the earthkeeping challenges in a place where human beings have been impacting the environment since the Paleolithic era? How does one think about restoring nature in a place known as the cradle of civilization? In this episode, we gain some practical wisdom from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. For that perspective, we welcome Mohammad Asfour, founding chair of WADI—an organization that advances water conservation and land stewardship practices in Jordan. He is also an environmentally conscious businessman and a skilled nature photographer. Among other things, Mohammad has fascinating proposals regarding the power of positivity psychology and mindful practice to help us become better earth keepers.

S2E9: What We Got Wrong About the Desert

S2E9: What We Got Wrong About the Desert

We spend a lot of time correcting misapprehensions about the desert. But don't get the impression we think we're flawless! We've made our share of mistakes about the desert as well. In this episode, we share some of the things we once thought about the desert that are just plain wrong, on topics ranging from rainfall to rattlesnakes. And of course we do this on a hike in the Mojave Desert.

Mark Doherty, Dual Draft -The Impact of Air Flow in Your Vertical Farm

Mark Doherty, Dual Draft -The Impact of Air Flow in Your Vertical Farm

On our latest episode of Grow Sessions we chat with Mark Doherty, COO of Dual Draft about the benefits of vertical farming and the problems associated with airflow in a cultivation facility in an episode entitled, “The Impact of Air Flow in Your Vertical Farm.”

The passage of air in and over each rack in a vertical farm provides unique obstacles. Poor airflow in a grow room can result in poor quality crops and result in low yields. Air flow also controls other environmental conditions like temperature and humidity.

Join us today for an educational discussion on the benefits of vertical farming and the problems associated with it. Topics in today’s episode include microclimates, drainage issues, understanding HVAC and dehumidification, the importance of choosing your cultivation equipment early in the build out of your facility and how Dual Draft’s integrated airflow solutions can help growers increase profitability and decrease crop loss in their vertical farm. These are just a few of the topics in today's discussion.

If you are a cultivator, owner of a facility or thinking of opening your own cultivation business, you don’t want to miss this episode.

    About Mark Doherty
