    #35 - Javier Grillo-Marxuach

Javi stops in for a lengthy conversation with BJ about a bunch of stuff. Javi tells us about his work on everything from Lost to Charmed, and about being the executive producer on The Witcher. He's also the creator of The Middleman, so obviously we discuss that a lot.

Javi talks about his disenchantment while working on Charmed, as well as being inspired to write The Middleman, a comic book he started work on in 1996. He talks about the journey from the page to the TV screen and the importance of the writers that brought emotion to the script. He also touches on the importance of timing and relevance with your material, and how differently it would impact popular culture if it was released at a different time.

    Munger on Middlemen

    Munger on Middlemen
Mike Munger of Duke University talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about the often-vilified middleman--someone who buys cheap, sells dear and does nothing to improve the product. Munger explains the economic function of arbitrage using a classic article about how prices emerged in a POW camp during World War II. Munger then applies the analysis to the financial crisis.
