    THE BIG SHOW DCXXXVII

    THE BIG SHOW DCXXXVII

    THE BIG SHOW DCXXXVII

    THE BIG SHOW DCXXXVII

About Mike Tomlin: Mike Tomlin was named the 16th head coach in Pittsburgh Steelers history on January 22, 2007. Hired at the age of 34, Tomlin became only the third head coach hired by the Steelers since 1969. In his 14 seasons as head coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tomlin has accomplished many things that have never been done in the team's storied history. A franchise known for stability at the head coaching position, Tomlin ranks among the League's longest-tenured active head coaches entering the 2021 season.

Mike also founded the ManUp conference 10 years ago in partnership with the Urban Impact Foundation.

    4 Key Takeaways:

    4. In The Lightning Round, Mike shares the best advice he’s ever received and his biggest leadership pet peeve.

    Quotes From the Episode:
I’ve learned to embrace the misery associated with failure and adversity and I realize that there’s always a silver lining within it and an opportunity to learn and get better.”
“The more uncomfortable I am, the greater the growth opportunity.”
    “Head down and working.”

Pittsburgh Fandom w/ Caleb Eckel, Cowher vs. Tomlin, Mario vs. Sid, Fleury vs. Murray, Start-Bench-Cut (Allen-Burrow-Mahomes)

Alex, Chris, and Josh are joined by Caleb Eckel to discuss all things Pittsburgh sports. Caleb reminisces about his earliest memories of being a young fan of the Penguins and Steelers (10:13), and his total disdain for the Pirates and their ownership (13:46). Caleb speaks to the blue-collared and tough culture of the City of Pittsburgh (15:56), and outlines the expectations the fanbase has for their athletes. Caleb then explains the complicated relationship some Steelers fans have with Head Coach Mike Tomlin despite his steady leadership and winning ways (20:09), and spells out why he believes in Kenny Pickett (25:50). Alex asks Caleb about when Matt Murray took the place in the Pens' net of fan favourite Marc-Andre Fleury in 2016-17 (28:31), and then makes the case for Sidney Crosby's greatness being comparable to Mario Lemieux's greatness, while Josh is repulsed by the argument (36:20). As always, the show ends with shout-outs to all the TSPeeps who played an all-time Start-Bench-Cut on social media that focused on the best young NFL quarterbacks (45:00).

Can the Steelers Trap a Honey Badger?

Can the Steelers Trap a Honey Badger?

Can the Steelers shore up strong safety through free agency? Tyrann Mathieu is available. Is it better to go with Terrell Edmunds who has a longer runway?

The Steelers tend to signal their interest each year before the draft.  Mike Tomlin is buying dinner for every college quarterback coming out in the draft. Are we going for a QB?

Speaking of QB, if Baker Mayfield is cut loose from the Browns, could the Steelers, should the Steelers pick him up?

The Steelers Massive Week in Free Agency

The Steelers Massive Week in Free Agency

Defense is essentially illegal in the NFL, thus the Browns acquisition of DeShaun Watson dashes any hope the Steelers have to win in the AFC North without a high-level QB.  How can the Browns blow this opportunity?

Do the Steelers trade draft capital for Malik Willis, or should we wait another year for an improved draft class? Can Mitch Trubisky shift gears and play at a high enough level?

The Steelers made more of a splash in free agency than they have in recent memory.  James Daniels may be the best value pick of free agency. Myles Jack is a premium linebacker in the prime of his career.   Mason Cole may not be a splash, but presumably an upgrade on the o-line and Levi Wallace is a starting caliber cornerback.

We talk about how the overall movement of premium talent affects the NFL.

Which division is better: AFC North or AFC West?

    Steelers in the Rodgers Sweepstakes

    Steelers in the Rodgers Sweepstakes

Aaron Rodgers has narrowed the teams he’s looking at: Packers, Broncos, Titans and Steelers. The terms with each team have purportedly been set. Aaron just needs to pull the trigger.

Several premiere offensive lineman are looking for work.  Is free agency the answer to the Steelers quest to rebuild the offensive line?

Although not  flush with QB talent, the 2022 NFL combine is setting a mark for speed, and it’s not just the WRs and DBs tearing things up.

Why You Should Not Root for the Cincinnati Bengals
