    September is Suicide Prevention Month. 

    In this Mindful of your Health episode, Molly Luevanos, a licensed professional counselor and chemical dependency counselor with Emergence Health Network discusses myths surrounding suicide and signs and behaviors to recognize if someone needs help. Luevanos explains how to start conversations with someone contemplating ending their life. She also listed the first steps if someone you know is suicidal and what you need to know about the mind of someone in crisis.

    Emergence Health Network: Veterans Mental Health

    We all know that El Paso has a big military community, but did you know Emergence Health Network and its Veterans One Stop Center provides services to assist active duty service members, veterans and their families?

    In this episode of “Mindful of Your Health” Jonathan Bohannon, Program Director of Veterans Services talks about how the Veterans One Stop Center is a helpful community recourse to accelerate access to mental health and support services to include therapy, case management and telemedicine services, along with clinical services. 

    We also hear from veteran Joe Armenta, Retired Master Sergeant who shares his personal experience with PTSD and how the VOSC assisted him. He says since the VOSC staff are veterans themselves, that they are able to personally understand and help the clients with their recovery journey.

    Emergence Health Network: Children's Mental Health

    In January, Emergence Health Network launched a program to reach children at school. 

    EHN is working with El Paso Independent School District to offer therapy, case worker and substance services.

    Sedric Deal, who is a licensed professional counselor at EHN has been working with students, teachers and staff at five EPISD schools.
