This week on the show, we discuss some of the recent games we've been playing, which includes some of the best games of 2018 so far. Journey with us to Jurassic World Evolution where we care and nurture dinosaurs, to the land of the Nintendo Switch where we play such games as Celeste, West of Loathing, and the soon-to-be-released Octopath Traveler. We also spend a bit of time with Minit, a game where your play sessions are only 60 seconds long.

D.J. checks in from Japan, a mysterious land where arcades and Xenogears live on. Back in America, Randy plays Minit 60 seconds at a time, then spends time with Metropolis: Lux Obscura, which brings some much-needed sexism to the match 3 genre. Also: Ticket to Earth.

A collaboration between four friends, Minit is a monochromatic top-down adventure game where you drop dead every 60 seconds. The team behind the title deftly uses what could be a grating gimmick as a way to create an infectious blend of speedrunning and environmental puzzle solving. Matt Perez and Satchell Drakes speak with Jan Willem Nijman, ‘Minit’ co-creator and cofounder of indie studio Vlambeer, about its origins as a game jam project, the game development community in the Netherlands and the state of the indie marketplace in 2018.
