Episode 60 Talk To Me (2022)

Uh oh. Co-hosts, Robert Lendrum and Jamie Roberts disagree on the realism of the teenage horror drama "Talk to Me". Twin brothers Danny and Michael Philippou make their directorial debut on this highly praised modern-day take on the ouija board, in which teens use the severed hand of a median to get high and converse with the dead! We ask the tough questions: does this film propagate a stereotype of stupid teenagers? Do they have a plan? Did Jamie ever have a plan during his teenage antics? Is this the worst dog in horror movie history? How will they franchise this story? Plus we take another look at the numbers in our new segment Monster Metrics! Shake hands with the devil (or some ugly gross guy from Limbo named Quain) and let to us in to your ear buds to talk about Talk to Me.

    "I let you in."

Andrew and Scotty shake hands with each other as they discuss "Talk To Me". They also talk about some recent movies, such as "Saw X", "No One Will Save You", and the "It" films. And stay tuned until the end of the episode, when Scotty is joined by Stanley, from The Gory Gays podcast, as they talk about what's coming up in the next episode of "Fun With Horror"

"Talk To Me" is an Australian horror film, directed by Danny and Michael Philippou. It's about a ceramic hand that is brought out at house parties, where people play a game by holding the hand and saying "Talk To Me", which then allows them to see the dead.

Talk To Me (2023): "Wait, Is This Movie Australian?!"

CRAZY! Pervert Ghost Hand Possesses Teens! (Prank!) (Gone Wrong!) (Gone Real?!) It’s the viral new video everyone is ~talking~ about — and after debuting in theaters this summer, Talk To Me (2023) is now officially available to watch at home. With A24’s latest release doing numbers and maybe even kicking off a new franchise, we knew we had to get in on the game here at Spooky Tuesday. For our Season 3 finale, we’re traveling to the land down under as we ~talk~ about whippets (don’t do them), Sophie Wilde (obsessed), and which sequels we’d like to see (all of them).

The Last Voyage of the Demeter and Talk to Me

Special guest Michael Overhulse is down for the count this week in our double review of The Last Voyage of the Demeter and Talk to Me, two horror movies that the boys claim Jon is too scared to watch. Guess they just need a thrill pill.

    Talk To Me review

    Talk To Me review

The best thing a horror movie can do is make you think about it long after the end credits roll. A24 Studios specializes at releasing these kind of horror movies. Is Talk To Me one of those? Check out this spoiler-free review to find out. Directors Danny and Michael Phillipou present their very first feature-length movie and it was good enough to get into Sundance and get bought by A24. It tells the story of Mia whose mother died relatively recently. To find some comfort for the grief, she agrees to take part in a ritual where you’re possessed by the dead. The ritual centers around a ceramic hand that contains an embalmed hand. You light a candle to open the doorway then you grab the hand and say “Talk to me” you see the dead. If you keep going and say “I let you in” you will be possessed by the dead. You’ll have to check out my review to hear more. It stars outstanding up and coming actress Sophie Wilde, veteran actress Miranda Otto from the Lord Of The Rings movies and newcomers Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Zoe Terakes, Chris Alosio, Marcus Johnson.

    S06E11: Flight Of The Phoenix

    S06E11: Flight Of The Phoenix
You've seen 2004's Flight Of The Phoenix before -- not just the Jimmy Stewart verzh from the '60s, but every "ragtag group with various animosities bands together to beat insurmountable odds, with an assist from ILM CGI" flick before it. As NOT the best pilot we ever saw, Dennis Quaid's Frank Towns throws John Wayne, Barth from You Can't Do That On Television, and a crappish Bill Clinton imitation into a blender to assay a backstory-free brat to whom everyone from Dr. House to EMT Riley to Eowyn is looking for salvation. How long have they been out in the Gobi? How much water is left? Why are Chekhov's nomads wearing Converse? And why did the same single rock in the entire desert that killed Sam Winchester then save Dennis Quaid? A lot of questions, a lot of callbacks to Enemy Mine in the season finale of Quaid In Full. What Lies Beneath (2000): "Psycho for Bathtubs"

Ever wished you could relate to the scariest scene in Psycho, but you’re just more of a bath person? Then What Lies Beneath (2000) is exactly what you’ve been waiting for. A Hitchcock-inspired story that features a beautiful blonde, a very spooky bathroom, and multiple different games of solitaire, this Michelle Pfeiffer flick is about as straight as it gets, but it has some of our cohosts feeling extra gay. On a new Spooky Tuesday, we’re settling in for a long soak with Harrison Ford’s first (and so far only) horror movie.

Annabelle Creation (2017): "Army of Demonic Annabelles"

Watch your back, Chucky — there’s a new haunted toy in town! This week’s installment of Doll Month is all about Annabelle: Creation (2017), and it just might be the best thing to come out of the Conjuring Cinematic Universe. In our latest episode, we’re unpacking the origin story and doing the math to see just how it stacks up against the film we’ve already covered. Maybe Annabelle can help out with her new knowledge of long division?

Witches, Warlocks, And A Wondrous Time (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina With A Plus One)

Witches, Warlocks, And A Wondrous Time (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina With A Plus One)

We finally convinced someone to come on the show and talk about some movie or TV show they are passionate about! Our guest Gen helped make this magical episode talking the ins and outs of every facet of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Come get lost in the supernatural and occult world of Greendale filled with witches, warlocks, and creatures aplenty. There will be drama, gore, romance, and just strange things all around.  This 4 season Netflix show, which closed out 2020 on the last possible day is under 40 episodes and is filled to the brim with amazing actors including Lord of The Rings legend, Éowyn. If you are looking for a new show to binge post Valentine's day that has some spookier elements but you can watch easily without the lights on and not be scared of what may be under your bed or in your closet afterwards for a week.  That and having known each other for over 10 years, the tangents and divergent media paths we go on are on full display as we talk about an endless amount of movies and TV shows, and our mutual love for IMDb.  So pour out some witches brew or whip up some malted milkshakes and get ready for a frighteningly fun time with friends! If you've seen Sabrina (either version), Riverdale, or any slightly darker show, let me know on social at either @NickNackMovies and @NickNack_IC on both Instagram and Twitter.  The best takes or recommendations in the Nick Nack Mail Bag will be shared on the next episode!
