Comment entrer dans la saga Mobile Suit Gundam ? Avec ses nombreuses séries, ses films et ses OAV, la franchise de science-fiction la plus prolifique du Japon depuis maintenant 40 ans impressionne par son immensité et sa popularité sans faille. Imaginée en 1979 par le génial Yoshiyuki Tomino, la série animée du studio Sunrise était innovante dans son fond et dans sa forme. Pour la première fois, le téléspectateur nippon assistait à une histoire qui se suivait d’épisode en épisode avec des cliffhangers et des personnages secondaires qui n’hésitaient pas à succomber dans des violents affrontements. Ce space opera complexe où des méchas s’affrontent dans l’espace a marqué les esprits pour ses héros et méchants inoubliables (l’antagoniste principal Char Aznable est inspiré par Charles Aznavour et Le Baron Rouge). Alors que Mobile Suit Gundam fut un échec à ses débuts sur le petit écran, la fan base de l’époque ainsi que le succès des films au cinéma propulsèrent le show de Tomino en une œuvre culte considérée maintenant comme incontournable au même niveau qu’Evangelion.  

L'invité : Jonathan Cordier de Mello, alias Pink Platypus est monteur-réalisateur indépendant. En Février 2021, il sort son premier film documentaire auto-produit ,LA GENÈSE DE GUNDAM, qui revient en près de 2h00 sur les origines du genre mecha et sur la production du premier anime "Real Robot".

Salut à tous ! Pas de MUTEKI en direct en FM cette semaine. Comme toujours, à la place, nous vous avons préparé un petit mix d'une heure avec un thème différent à chaque fois. Et ce samedi, on continue notre triptyque sur les années en 8 : Après 1998, remontons 10 ans en arrière ! En 1988, les idols et les boys bands sont en haut de l'affiche et, tout au sommet, trône le groupe HIKARU GENJI, boys band qui sera plus tard accompagné de jeunes choristes et danseurs qui seront à leur tour lancés dans le grand bain sous le nom de SMAP... Chez les filles, la reine SEIKO MATSUDA (qui sort cette année-là une chanson sur Marrakech) est contestée par de nombreuses concurrentes, dont la toute jeune SHIZUKA KUDO. Côté animation, NICKY LARSON ne craint effectivement personne à la télé, tandis que le réalisateur Hideaki Anno, bien avant Evangelion et Godzilla, se fait la main sur GUNBUSTER, et que les CHEVALIERS DU ZODIAQUE partent à Asgard, le temps d'un film. Le succès de ce dernier sera tel que les chevaliers d'Odin seront réutilisés pour la série principale... 1988, c'est aussi une grande année pour le jeu vidéo, avec, la même année, Super Mario Bros 2 aux USA et (déjà !) Super Mario Bros 3 au Japon, alors que Sega lance la MEGADRIVE, succès mitigé à domicile mais carton en devenir dans le reste du monde... Enfin, musicalement, une nouvelle scène émerge : le Visual Kei ! X JAPAN sort son premier album "Vanishing Visions", mais cette année-là, c'est BUCK-TICK qui récolte les honneurs, notamment celui du "Meilleur nouveau visage" aux Japan Records Awards. Hi everybody ! No MUTEKI live on air on FM this week. Instead, we have made a 1-hour mixtape, and today this one will get you back to 1988 ! This was a time when idols, boys bands and synthetizers ruled the musical world, and HIKARU GENJI were the one on top of all that, a band whose backing dancing crew would eventually get their chance into the spotlights, the following year, as SMAP... Meanwhile, the queen of idols SEIKO MATSUDA was facing a whole lot of challengers, from fellow celebrity Miho Nakayama to newcomer SHIZUKA KUDO. On TV also, CITY HUNTER and SAINT SEIYA were among the main series on screen, the latter also had its momentum on the silver screen, with a movie taking place in Asgard. The film was so successful that the producers went on creating a whole season in the land of the knights of Odin ! ... 1988 is also a great year for the video gaming industry, as Sega unveiled its powerful Megadrive/Genesis console, and Nintendo launched (the same year !) a second episode of Super Mario Bros in the US and a third one in Japan (we, in Europe, would have to wait for that one until late 1991 !). And, last but not least, some new faces &amp; sounds begin to get out of the underground musical scene in 1988 : The VISUAL KEI bands, with X (JAPAN)'s first album "Vanishing Visions", but also BUCK-TICK's first mainstream success and first award (Best New Face) at the Japan Record annual ceremony.
