    On December 20, 2023, Montana State announced the signing of 19 new Bobcats for Class of 2023. The class includes one transfer plus eight prep standouts from the state of Montana, five from Washington, three from Texas and one each from Idaho and Wyoming. Montana State head coach Brent Vigen addressed the media about the class on Wednesday afternoon.

    North Dakota State rolled Drake 66-3 on Saturday to move into the second round of the FCS Playoffs. The Bison will take on No. 6 Montana State, who is coming off a first round bye. 

    NDSU ended Montana State's season in the 2018, 2019 and 2021 playoffs. The last time the two programs met, NDSU beat MSU 38-10 in the 2021 national title game. The last time North Dakota State played in Bozeman, the Bison won 42-17 in 2010.

    The Bobcats still received a bye in the FCS Playoffs and will host North Dakota State on December 2, 2023 in Bozeman, Montana. 

    The Bison, winners of nine national championships since 2011, are 9-3 after a 66-3 win over Drake in the first round of the playoffs. 

    The last time NDSU visited Bozeman came in the first round of the 2010 FCS Playoffs. The Bison won 42-17 against the Big Sky Conference champion Bobcats.
