Surviving Wedding Planning: Taming the Overbearing Mother-in-Law

Calling all brides-to-be who are wrestling with the rollercoaster ride that's wedding planning, especially if you're one in five who has an overbearing mother-in-law. I, DJ ESG, am here with a 30-year wisdom bag to help you paddle through this sea without capsizing your boat of joy. Don't worry, I'm not suggesting you strangle her, just some simple hacks to keep your sanity from being hijacked.

Drawing from a recent Boston study, I'll present some intriguing insights and practical advice on how to keep your mother-in-law in line without hurting your groom. There's no need to include her in every decision or seek constant approval. Your happiness is the priority here, and if that means going dress shopping or DIY-ing some wedding stuff without her, so be it. Also, don't forget to keep your future husband in the loop, you wouldn't want your mother-in-law driving him up the wall. Join me for some frank and honest discussion. See you there!

An Invitation & An Invoice: Is Charging Wedding Guests OK?

An Invitation & An Invoice: Is Charging Wedding Guests OK?

The average Australian wedding now costs a whopping $36,000, and while for many people that amount of money is simply unobtainable, it seems more and more couples are finding new ways of raising extra cash to have the the big day of their dreams.

One of those methods is an increasing trend for brides and grooms to ask friends and family to chip in for the event, to cover everything from the meal, to extravagant extras like fireworks and luxury honeymoons, but is that ok?

The Quicky speaks to a wedding expert, and a couple of married women to find out whether this is fair game, or if it's a very rude way of getting other people to fund a ridiculously over the top wedding that you really can't afford.

EP 41: Nurturing Mother / Son relationships with Alex Sanfilippo

In this episode I talk to the inspiring Alex Sanfilippo.  Not only is Alex a successful podcast host and entrepreneur, but he values the importance of relationships and staying connected.  In this very special Mother's Day episode, we hear in his own words, what it's like to look back at his relationship with his mom through the years, and how important it is to stay connected.

Many of us feel sad or anxious when our adult children leave for the next phase of their journey, but as you'll hear, it can be filled with many emotions, but most of all it is filled with excitement for new adventures.

The porch light will always be on.......

Alex Sanfilippo started his first business at the age of twelve; selling used golf balls. From there, he went on to real estate investing and a technology start up which he sold years later. For the past decade, Alex has been an executive in the aerospace industry. During his time in corporate America, he stayed active with his side hustles; which mainly consisted of conference speaking and business coaching.
