    S1 E14 Being Independent

    S1 E14 Being Independent

Hunter and James discuss what it is like to move out of the family home and live with a significant other in their own home. They share insights and learning curves as well as what they enjoy about being independent. Tune in if you’re thinking about making the change yourself and also hear what they have to say about some future episodes.

    Moving Out 2 Test

    Moving Out 2 Test

What Is Growing Up? EP1: Lessons From a First Move

What Is Growing Up? EP1: Lessons From a First Move

Moving out of your parents house for the first time is a big moment in life. We all go through it, and as happy as our parents may be about it, the stress on us is very real. On this episode, you'll hear from Nicholas Kalil, a young adult who shares his experiences surrounding his first move out. From the budgeting, to maintaining relationships, negotiating dietary differences and everything in between, we dive into the things that people forgot to tell you before your first move into a new situation.

    Youth Legal Info: Moving Out!

    Youth Legal Info: Moving Out!

The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS) is proud to introduce The Youth Legal Information Project, a project that is aimed at providing practical legal information to youth under the age of 25. Thank you to The Law Foundation of Ontario for its continued support in providing legal information to Nova Scotians of all ages.

    Moving Out

Host Ainsley Jackson discusses her experience moving out on her own! Ainsley chats with her roommate, Erin, about how they became roommates, the experience of subletting and their experience navigating challenging situations with landlords and residential tenancies.

LawLISNS are short legal information podcasts presented by the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS-pronounced 'listens').  LawLISNS talks about everyday legal problems in Nova Scotia, your rights and responsibilities, and ways to work things out.

The law and information talked about in this episode were current as of August 2023.  Laws change, so check with LISNS or a lawyer to see if the law has changed since then.  LISNS podcasts explain the law in a general way as it applies in Nova Scotia, Canada.  The information is not intended as legal advice.  If you have a legal problem, contact a lawyer for advice about what steps you should take in your situation.

MOVING OUT: the importance of place, choosing where to live + preparing for change

MOVING OUT: the importance of place, choosing where to live + preparing for change

This episode is all about moving out and how to prepare for life in a new city all on your own. We chat about how our environment shapes us and the importance of choosing a place that aligns with your life stage, interests, non-negotiables and more. I then share all of my tips for setting yourself for a move—not an apartment guide (although stay tuned!) but advice on how to put yourself in a position physically and mentally so you can make the jump.

This move has been a long time coming for me and I am ECSTATIC to bring you along for the ride.

EP 27: California is DOUBLING TAXES! You Won't Believe This CRAZY NEW TAX!

California lawmakers unveiled a new bill that would establish a single-payer health care system – an ambitious plan that would be funded by nearly doubling the state's already ridiculously high taxes. On this episode I break down exactly what this means to you and how it's going to affect your family.

EP 1: Why I Moved to Texas | Leaving California

EP 1: Why I Moved to Texas | Leaving California

I DID IT! After talking about leaving California for a long time last year, my family finally left California and moved to... TEXAS! We've been here for a few months now and I have to say that we are absolutely loving it! Check out my reasons for leaving California on this episode of The DIMA Show!

Unfortunately, the Golden State is no longer so golden for many people, as the number of companies and people leaving California in the last few years has reached a fever pitch.  From celebrities like Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro and more, to many companies moving their headquarters, a ton of people are ditching the high taxes, crazy regulations, terrible business climate and high cost of living for the friendlier confines of states like Texas, Florida, Tennessee and others.

If you're thinking about joining the mass exodus and leaving California but just aren't sure if it's the right move, or if you've already left and are second guessing your decision, you'll love a sneak peak into these reasons why we left, as they may be just as applicable to you.
