    ...with Jose Dávila

    ...with Jose Dávila
In this episode of WAS MIT KUNST, Johann König talks to the multidisciplinary artist Jose Dávila, who resides and works in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico. He works primarily with sculpture, but also photography, painting, and various media. In the podcast they talk about his work in the studio, the Acapulco chair, his sculptures and his upcoming projects. Jose’s work is a constant search for moments of shared reciprocity between contradictory elements. By means of a structural intuition Jose produces constructive situations in which tension and stillness, geometric order and random chaos, fragility and resistance, are fluctuating commonplaces for materials in continuous transformation. Johann and Jose talk about interesting projects like his vertical sculpture at Rockefeller Plaza, New York City, his multi-site, large-scale, public sculpture exhibition migrating through the diverse urban landscape of Los Angeles and his upcoming exhibition in König Galerie, Seoul.

    Sloan Leo

    Sloan Leo

If there's one word I would use to describe Sloan Leo, it would be "dynamic". As the CEO of NYC-based FLOX Studio, they bring over 15 years of facilitation and community strategy to bring the power of community design to clients from all over. Sloan is also an accomplished mixed media artist, and their exhibition "A Watermelon for Leo" is a beautiful assemblage of ephemera, rituals and video.

We started our conversation off with a quick 2020 review, and Sloan talked about their daily flow and the work they're doing through FLOX Studio. Sloan also talked about the beginnings of their passion for art and community design, and spoke on how they're making space for joy during this current time. Remember their name, because I have a hunch we'll be hearing more of Sloan Leo for years to come!
