The Marvelous Land of Oz - Part 2 (of 5)

The Marvelous Land of Oz - Part 2 (of 5)

Last week, we began our second journey into the Marvelous Land of Oz, and met Tip and his inadvertent companion, Jack Pumpkinhead. These characters may seem familiar if you have ever seen Disney's 1985 film 'Return to Oz', a much darker sequel to the classic 'The Wizard of Oz'. Jack Pumpkinhead plays a pivotal role in the film, which takes elements of this Oz story and the next in the series, 'Ozma of Oz,' and throws in some other ideas to create a film that, while not well known, retains a cult following.
This week, we follow our heroes into the Emerald City. What will befall them there?

This week brings us another Tale, and magical sequel, "The Marvelous Land of Oz," by L. Frank Baum. Having written "The Wizard of Oz," a Tale we have previously told, Baum was frequently contacted by excited children asking for more stories about the Land of Oz. He decided to finally give them what they wanted, with this sequel detailing the further adventures of the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman. What other characters will we meet in this instalment?

EPISODE 108: TEN HORRORS OF OZ (HYSTERY)

EPISODE 108: TEN HORRORS OF OZ (HYSTERY)

Even though the 1939 Academy Award-winning film "The Wizard of Oz" is remembered today as one of the greatest classics of all-time, some consider it to be the most dangerous movie ever made.

Because during the six-month, exhaustive filming of the Wizard of Oz, there were countless accidents and special effects gone wrong that nearly resulted in the deaths of a few actors on set…

And by far, most horrifying of all- some believe that one of the actors portraying a Munchkin- committed suicide on the set of the film and can still be seen today in the final cut of the movie.

Let's explore what are in my opinion the TEN MOST HORRIFYING HORRORS BEHIND THE WIZARD OF OZ ...

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Part 5 (of 5)

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Part 5 (of 5)

The final part of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. Dorothy has accidentally succeeded in slaying the Wicked Witch and her companions have been 'rewarded' with their sought after brains, heart and courage, but the Wizard of Oz is stumped at how to keep his promise to her. Will Dorothy ever be able to get back to Kansas?

Part Four of our reading of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum.  Our intrepid crew have finally made it to the Emerald City and secured an audience with the great and terrible Oz.  He has agreed, in his many forms, to the requests of Dorothy, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion, but on one condition: they must kill the Wicked Witch of the West. Will they? And can they...?

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Part 3 (of 5)

Part Three of our reading of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum.  Dorothy and the Scarecrow have been joined by the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion on their quest to see the Wizard of Oz, but they have run into danger - a deadly poppy field that could send Dorothy and the Lion to sleep forever.  With some quick thinking, the Tin Woodman and Scarecrow have rescued little Dorothy, but how will they save the Lion?

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Part 1 (of 5)

Our new Tale is the "The Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. Thanks to the classic movie, it's a story most people are familiar, but there are some interesting differences between that and the book it was based on.  Baum's idea for the book was a modern fairy tale, something to be simply enjoyed by the children of the day. So, in that spirit, let us journey to Oz with Dorothy and Toto...
