Events - Police and Fire Service Day 2023

myBurbank Talks went on the road for our first-ever remote podcast, and we positioned ourselves on the apparatus floor of Station 11 where we had guests join us and talk about the different aspects of their jobs and responsibilities.

We discussed the Paramedic Program, Extraditions, Drone Operations, the new Parking Enforcement, and Hazmat Operations.

We even had Burbank Police Chief Michael Albanese stop by and discuss the day and the Police Department.

This, by far, is our most extended podcast at 2:05:00 in length, but you can look below for your favorite subjects to listen to, although we think that you find every section very informative.

Thank you to our guests and the Burbank Fire Department for hosting us!

Honoring Fallen Heroes: The History and Importance of National Police Week with Bill Alexander

Tyler Technologies is proud to be a supporting sponsor of National Police Week, an annual event to honor law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. To help us learn more about National Police Week, we are pleased to welcome Bill Alexander, Executive Director of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. His organization hosts the official National Police Week events in Washington, D.C. A retired police officer himself, Bill will share his unique perspective on the history of National Police Week and what the event means both to the surviving family members of the fallen officers as well as to the wider law enforcement community.

Bill Alexander joined the NLEOMF with nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience, starting with the United States Air Force and then as a local police officer in Prince George’s County, a Maryland community just outside of Washington, D.C.  He started as a patrol officer and was quickly promoted through a variety of supervisory and command level roles such as media relations, internal affairs, police training academy, and command of the Hyattsville District station, the area which surrounds the University of Maryland.  He also forged strong relationships with local/state elected leaders, government officials, and advocacy groups as the department’s lead legislative liaison.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and a Master’s degree in Leadership from Johns Hopkins University.  Alexander’s leadership and extensive background in law enforcement will help ensure the Memorial Fund does not falter in its mission, to honor all those who fall in the line of duty.
