Baseball and BBQ Episode #82: Talking about Negro Leagues Baseball History and Hinchliffe Stadium with Brian LoPinto

Join us for a show you never expected, but will thoroughly enjoy, as we bring you bonus episode 82.

Brian LoPinto is a lover of baseball history as well as his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey.  He has dedicated himself to the restoration of Hinchliffe Stadium where numerous historical events, many baseball related, have occurred.  This 10,000 seat stadium has been designated a National Historic Landmark and  has hosted many Negro League baseball games.  Monte Irvin, Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston, and Cool Papa Bell all played there as well as Larry Doby, who broke the American League color barrier in 1947.  The stadium is rich, not only with baseball history, but many other wonderful events and Brian is a terrific docent  as he gives us a tour back in time.  To learn more about this amazing landmark go to http://www.hinchliffestadium.com/

We once again conclude the show with the beautiful song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel Krakofsky.

We recommend you go to Fifth & Cherry, fifthandcherry.com for wonderful cutting boards and baseballbbq.com for grill tools and clothing for barbecue and baseball fans and the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag.

We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe.

Baseball and BBQ Episode #76: Tim Reazor of Fifth & Cherry and Jim Overmyer, author of Cum Posey of the Homestead Grays

Episode 76 will make you very happy.

Tim Reazor may be one of the few people who can make a discussion on cutting boards interesting as well as entertaining.  As co-founder of Fifth and Cherry, makers of beautiful premium handcrafted wooden cutting boards, he has a fascinating story to tell. Tim served 10 years in the military and was deployed three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and we are extremely grateful for his service.  He has a keen business sense and believes in building a brand based on outstanding products and customer service.  We are so fortunate to have found him and the special company he runs with his wife, Tanya.  Please enjoy our conversation and then go to https://fifthandcherry.com to shop for their cutting boards which are truly works of art and will make wonderful holiday gifts.

Jim Overmyer is the author of Cum Posey of the Homestead Grays:  A Biography of the Negro Leagues Owner and Hall of Famer.  Jim is a baseball history author specializing in the Negro Leagues. A prolific author, he has written a wonderful book which provides an in depth story on Cumberland Posey who is one of only two athletes to be honored by two pro sports hall of fames, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.  Posey was the principal owner of the Homestead Grays, spending 35 years (1911-1946) in baseball as a player, manager, owner and club official.  Besides being an author and member of the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, Jim was also involved with one of the Baseball Hall of Fame’s special nominating committees which he also discusses.

Please visit the Pandemic Baseball Book Club,   https://www.pbbclub.com/ to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag you may want to purchase.
