    Life Update: Taking Small Steps Through New Chapters with Amber Pierson

    Life Update: Taking Small Steps Through New Chapters with Amber Pierson

    Join us for a heartfelt catch-up with the inspiring Amber Pierson, who first joined our podcast in 2021. Back then, she delved deep into her transformative journey of parenting Kai, a brave young soul with a myriad of health challenges including hydrocephalus, Dandy Walker malformation, and several others. Listen to Amber's first episode here to hear more about Kai's birth story and the early years.

    Fast-forward two years, and Amber fills us in on the twists and turns of her journey. Along with navigating Kai's ongoing challenges and celebrating his successes, the family has celebrated the arrival of Cameron, their neurotypical bundle of joy. Amber candidly discusses striking a balance between the varying needs of her two children, all while building an inclusive oasis with her venture, the Better Together Playnasium, and enlightening and connecting many through her podcast, Lemon Cake.

    In an episode that oscillates between the rawness of grief and the euphoria of celebrating life's little victories, Amber's story is a testament to the power of taking life one step at a time, finding joy in the unexpected, and parenting with unwavering love and resilience.

    Raising neurodivergent children. Interview with Neurodiversity life-coach (and mother) Danielle Sullivan

    Raising neurodivergent children. Interview with Neurodiversity life-coach (and mother) Danielle Sullivan

    This week I had the pleasure of talking to Danielle Sullivan.

    She's a neurodiversity life coach, autism and disability advocate, autistic mother and host of the Neurodiverging podcast.

    We had a tremendous chat about various things to do with either being diagnosed as neurodivergent yourself or raising neurodivergent children.

    We covered "What to do if your child gets a neurodivergent (autism, ADHD etc) diagnosis?"
    What works and what doesn't work with neurodivergent kids.
    How every neurodivergent person is different.
    The benefits of having a neurodivergent diagnosis.

    And much, much more.

    As I say in the podcast, several times: I learnt more in this hour than I could have done spending hours searching online.

    You can find Danielle everywhere;

    YouTube

    In the news this week, I thought I would talk a bit about a study, from Stanford, that came out recently that showed that there is a difference between the brains of boys and girls with autism. Here is a link to the actual paper.

    The reason I thought the study was interesting is because it, once again, highlights that women and men are different in physiology and that therefore using the same diagnostics and treatment methods in medicine is flawed. The more we are aware of this the easier it is to improve the health, and experience, of women overall.
