Brandon London has crossed the pond to join Lee and Chelsea for their Newcastle match at Stamford Bridge. On this special episode of Chelsea Mic'd Up, Brandon and Lee chat at Cobham about Brandon's experience seeing the Bridge in person and his hotel on stadium's grounds. Plus, the two look towards Chelsea's UCL second leg against Lille and make predications for the crucial matchup.

Stroke survivor John Gordon in conversation with Nirjay Mahindru.  John met InterAct whilst at Newcastle hospital and was inspired to write poetry afterwards.  He's published book of poetry Popcorn is available online.  

John's story was the inspiration behind InterAct's recent BBC Radio 4 Charity appeal.    A civil servant during his working life, John talks about his background, the civil service and his experiences both of stroke and InterAct Stroke Support.  

For the second episode of Belta, I spoke to producer and DJ Meg Ward. Based between Leeds now, she did a stint in Newcastle and her name is cropping up across massive festival and event lineups such as Annie Mac’s Lost and Found and Boardmasters.

We spoke about tearing up the LS6 basement parties, had a brief geography lesson (seriously), playing a DJ set when all the crowd wants is Pop Smoke and just how class the North East is…

In this second episode from the year-long Equal Arts project, we reflect on the importance of carving out queer spaces, especially during the hostile political and generally homophobic climate of the 80s and 90s. 
We hear from some of the pioneers who worked hard to carve out queer spaces in the cultural landscape of Newcastle, giving the LGBTQ communities safe places in which to just be and express themselves, dance, have fun, organise, find their tribe and  a space in which queer culture could flourish. We speak to women who were part of a collective that ran club nights and the long-standing queer cabaret night, Rock 'N' Doris and who went on to set up Pride on Tyne and also, two of the founders of Proudwords, the UK's first queer writing festival.

What a great way to round out Season 2 of the show - Expanding on our look at the Technical side of recreational diving, I'm joined by Ryan Duchatel, JJ CCR Trimix Instructor, cave diver and co-owner of Total Immersion Diving based in Newcastle , Australia.

I've found many recreational divers are curious about the tech divers out there and the complex equipment they use.  It seems to be a bit of a dark art and I've regularly heard comments along the lines of "It's for people wanting to dive deep" or "that it is too complex and expensive for me".  The reality is very much to the contrary, technical diving is for anyone who wishes to extend their dives, either in time, depth, range or all of the above. 

Ryan talks about the evolution of Total Immersion Diving and provides us with great detail on how a  closed circuit rebreather works and  the many advantages that they provide, such as being able to get closer to wildlife, warmer diving, longer NDL's at all depths, variable partial pressure

Isra Mohammed's speech to her school in Newcastle, UK, went went around the world in December of 2015. She was a 15 year old student at Kenton School, Newcastle, and she'd been subjected to racist and Islamophobic taunts after the ISIS attacks on Paris, that killed 130 people and injured hundreds more. When her brother and sister were targeted, Isra decided she had to do something, and so arranged to address the whole school, to tell her fellow students about Islam, and to try to dispel myths and ignorance about the religion. One delivery of this speech (she gave a few) was recorded, uploaded to YouTube and went around the world as a viral sensation.
