Episode 245 - No Hits For Maloney and Wilson

Episode 245 - No Hits For Maloney and Wilson

In the long history of baseball, it's only happened twice that pitchers on opposing teams no-hit one another's clubs in back-to-back games, but the second one happened 53 years ago this week when Jim Maloney and Don Wilson authored brilliant no-nos against the Astros and Reds, respectively. Mike and Bill look back at two of the forgotten star hurlers of the 1960s, and on their very weird dual accomplishment.

Plus, happy birthday to Larry Andersen and Heine Meine!

    8. Kelly Robinson: No-Hitters, Annual Baseball Trips, and Baseball Oddities

This week we're joined by Kelly Robinson, a Chicago resident and long-time fan of the Chicago White Sox. He and his wife are ballpark chasers who go on an extended road trip each year to visit minor league and independent ballparks. Kelly has been present for THREE no-hitters, several triple plays, historic moments, and even a few baseball oddities.  We also commiserate on the difficulties of explaining the rules of baseball to newcomers, and why you should never leave a game early.

    Episode 60: No-Hitters Everywhere
In this episode, we kick it off with our Monday Minutes where we talk about our favorite teams (6:01); give our takes on the crazy number of no-hitters that have been thrown this year and what - if anything - should be done about it (21:01); discuss Tony La Russa, Yermín Mercedes, and the White Sox after an eventful week (34:18); do our weekly segments Who's Hot and Who's Not (42:05) and Shoutout of the Week (52:48); talk with Ethan Noone about our bets for the week (59:19); and close with a contentious Top 5 Sodas (88:20). Enjoy!
