Recorded at Tuesdays at Gebhards with my friend and the owner of Gebhards, Matt.

We got our cheap Christmas trees thanks to Scott Watson. Went to a Saloon, waited for a freight train forever, learned about the daily earthquake, and ended at a place with a lot of dudes! Matt had to leave for a quick meeting but he will be back. Asked if I'd rather have dinner with Anthony or Jim Norton. The biggest problem having an Opie and Anthony reunion. What I think about the band Kiss. Someone is crashing our livestream. Thoughts on Geno Bisconte from Compound Media. Matt returns to say the Beatles are overrated. Best band to listen to when you dabble. We learn that Matt is not a fan of John Taffer. Some guy just showed up with a sign.

Robert aka Little Foot and Ron the Waiter join Opie to talk about their wild roommates over the years. Hot irons, a dead cat, a tarp, destroying the last memory of mom. Just another Tuesday at Gebhards.

New Yorkers in LA with Daniel Zahler

New Yorkers in LA with Daniel Zahler

New Yorkers in LA - do you feel the heat already on this topic or is it just the weather!?  This topic never gets old and there’s so much to learn from those who call these places home as well as their fascinating stories.

My guest today, @danielzahler started a movement to unite New Yorkers in Los Angeles. That’s right, The New York Times picked up Daniel’s unique, yet much needed community of New Yorkers, who have made the transition to Los Angeles and who have connected through a What’s App group of 250 ppl (with a waitlist to join) called, NYC in LA.

Why he started this community and more on what his New York & LA story is - you’ll have to tune into the episode for that. However, what I can share is that Daniel has so many tips for both coasts along with pizza recommendations that will have you wanting to visit both cities to confirm.

Daniel is a Harvard graduate in Chemistry & Chemical Biology, and has a JD from Harvard Law School. He even had a fellowship at Yale Medical School. He knows his east coast and is currently making his best life in the west coast while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Also did I mention, he not only offers multiple quotes on New York City, but he also shares a poem intertwining the city and Burning Man as one. Queue the heat and enjoy the episode!

Respect & The City with Native New Yorker Katherine G. Mendoza

A thought provoking and super informative interview with, Katherine G. Mendoza. There was so much to unpack in our conversation that you can expect a second episode drop with her, which is set to be a surprise, so be on the look out for that.

Katherine is a Brooklynite and (I might add) a Manhattanite of Ecuadorian-American decent, a comedy writer, creative content producer & talented voice actor who has taken the online world by storm. Her work has also been featured in many publications including Entertainment Weekly, Variety, Univision, Telemundo, Huffington Post, and many more outlets.

In our episode, Katherine and I discuss: New York City’s culture, subcultures, our Hispanic and Latin American roots, gentrification of the city, transportation and crime in the NYC. We also touch upon Los Angeles, along with her advice for those looking to make the move to the city (how it’s not like the movies or should one expect it to be like their hometown), and even provides native New Yorkers an even more REAL dose of advice of stereotyping the community.

Katherine brings her raw, compassionate, savvy and naturally humorous self to every question delivered and leaves you wanting more.

Plant Powered Metro New York with Lianna Levine Reisner

Plant Powered Metro New York with Lianna Levine Reisner

This is one of the most impactful topics and conversations to date on the podcast, with guest  @plantpoweredmetrony, because it could actually help transform and save lives in small steps but dramatic ways.

New York City isn’t just about the dining and food experiences, nightlife, attractions, landmarks, etc., but it’s also the energy of the people, the communities built here, the connections we make, giving back and not just taking, and how we choose to build our everyday lives here.

Did you know chronic diseases are the leading cause of mortality not only in the U.S., but across the world and Covid-19 did not help. All caused by a short list of risk behaviors that are generally under our control:

    •Tobacco use and exposure

•Poor nutrition, including diets low in fruits and vegetables and high in sodium and saturated fats

    •Lack of physical activity

    •Excessive alcohol use

With pizza, bagels and BEC’s as the culture of NYC…I bring this conversation to the forefront to not only inform and educate myself and fellow New Yorkers on what resources are available in our community, but also for those who want to elevate their well-being and lifespan.

***TONS OR RESOURCES LINKED IN THE SHOW NOTES***

Lianna Levine Reisner, Newtwork Director at Plant Powered Metro New York, a non-profit organization in the city that started in 2019, helps to empower people to find better health and overcome chronic disease through whole food, plant-based nutrition. Lianna joined me to share her NYC story and initial culture shock of NYC and how finding places beyond the tourist traps ended up being her safe haven, as well as, how freedom of movement with transportation and all that the city offers has been a dream come true.

She’ll also share how she and many others like our NYC Mayor have overcome chronic diseases through nutritional changes and how one can start their own path today. This is a much listen to interview, if not for you, then for your loved ones.

NYC's Man of the Hour with Justin Crawford

Born in Japan, raised in Tennessee, and making a name for himself in New York City and all across multimedia outlets in the U.S. through interviewing some of the biggest names in the industry, I’m happy to have been able to turn the tables on Justin Crawford and introduce his story and journey in the city.

“In just a few years after graduating from the University of Tennessee, Justin has managed to work for companies such as NBCUniversal - while on the side also building brands, launching creative production companies, podcasts and bringing media outlets some of the most exclusive interviews to date.”

In our interview, Justin shares how he strategically built his life and career in New York City and how one can do the same. He also opens up about the exclusive interviews he’s done with celebrities, thought leaders, movers and shakers and what ultimately led him to the create the #menofthehour podcast. Justin will also dive into his new and exciting project with The House of Routines, and of course, he’ll share how New York City wasn’t that easy on him to start, and how it gave him some learning lessons that helped shape his habits and routines that ultimately led him to success.

All this plus how one can live in NYC two months free with a certain fellowship program; how he explored New York 7x before pulling the trigger to move here; insight on the community he’s built in the city; and so much more.
