S1E107: How much do I deserve to earn in my business?

Now that we have established a clear "I must pay myself" rule (see last week's episode if you haven't got this loud and clear yet!) it's time to unpack exactly how much we deserve to be earning in our small business.

S1E106: Do you pay yourself (enough?)

S1E106: Do you pay yourself (enough?)

When I started my business, I took money out willy nilly and never really thought about the consequences. From my years of coaching small business owners, I have found that this is common practise, especially when it's not clear how much money we "should" be earning in our own business.

In today's episode we talk about this and the lessons I learnt from not setting myself up for success from the get go!

    S1E103: Lisa Messenger LIVE

    S1E103: Lisa Messenger LIVE

What a thrill! In today's episode I spend 26 minutes with the incredible Lisa Messenger, our keynote speaker from the Simply Business Summit. After recording this episode, I can truthfully say her presentation is going to be even more brilliant than I could have imagined.

This episode has a few stellar truth bombs that sound like this:

    • I’d spent so many years over servicing, undercharging and being everything to everyone. The reason that something finally worked wasn't that I was the smartest person in the room or that I actually knew what I was doing... It was because I got my mindset into gear. I learned how to have unwavering self belief.”
    • “Everything was stacked against me. What was in my favour—and what I’ll share with everyone attending your amazing Summit—is learning that when we can tap into our purpose and our passion and what's driving us, the end result is extraordinary.”
    • "People see success or the ‘perceived success’ of others and think ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘I don’t know what I’m doing’. Well here’s the secret: None of us actually know what we’re doing. I’m an 11 or 12-year ‘overnight success’.”
    • “What I’d love to talk about at Summit is recognising what our strengths are. For example, I'm a great founder. I'm not necessarily a great CEO. We need to learn how to surround ourselves with people who are going to support us in whatever it is we’re trying to create. This is really important in business and as we grow in life.”
    • “Particularly when we’re starting out in business, it’s important to remember there are more currencies than cash. If you can’t afford the extra help you need… what skills can you share or exchange with another business owner instead of exchanging cash? This is a way that we can feel supported, lean into our own strengths and get help without having to pay physical dollars until we're able to.”

    Talk about speaking my language!

Lisa is real, raw, authentic and vulnerable in sharing all of her stories of her 22+ years in business in a way that can help other women in business like you and I. Whether you’re just getting started or are 5+ years in, I guarantee you’ll walk away from hearing her speak (either on my podcast or in person at Summit!) feeling invigorated and inspired.

If you’re free from June 21 - 23 there are just 8 tickets left to join us in person at Simply Business Summit in Byron Bay and I’d absolutely LOVE you to be one of the 30 women in the room with us.
