Not only is "Doc" one of the most esteemed spinal surgeons in the world and the official Medical Director of the offshore racing circuit, but his off-duty passions find him at expert levels of snowmoblling, hosting the annual Powerboaters Snowmobile Rally in Saratoga, Wyoming every January, preparing for more Iron Man cycling and swimming competitions, advanced SCUBA dive instructor, certified brewmaster and founder of Snowy Mountain Brewery, avid motorcycle and UTV rider, organizing annual expeditions with friends, speedboating super-enthusiast, and dedicated husband to wife, Sharon, and father to children Matt and Madison––who all happen to be doctors, as well.

We catch up with Myrick Coil, since "the bros" were in Key West, FL for the 2023 Key West Offshore World Championship, presented by Race World Offshore. Capping off an exciting race season filled with tense drama, the lowest of lows and the highest of highs. Myrick, along with teammate/throttleman Tyler Miller, secured their third consecutive National Championship title and their second consecutive World Championship title in the dominant M CON / Monster Energy 388 Skater in the illustrious Super Cat Class. 

Also, in their first season competing in the pinnacle of offshore racing, Class 1, the duo fought vigilantly through new boat blues, mechanical gremlins and the seemingly unending battle of attrition in their new 438 Skater, Monster Energy / M CON race boat. Throughout a challenging season, the team secured a remarkable second place finish at the World Championpship. 

Last but certainly not least, Coil, along with teammate/throttleman Rusty Williams in the Team Performance Boat Center / FASS Fuel Systems Super Stock competitor had a rough time in Key West, with near misses, close calls and disappointing finishes.

All while raising his family of six with wife/podcast producer, Missi.

Les marins évoquent au passage les spécificités des différents scows, chacun ayant ses points forts et faibles, sur lesquels architectes et chantiers ne cessent de travailler, comme le confirme le co-directeur de Structures, qui a développé l’hiver dernier une V2 du Pogo S4.

Nous passons ensuite aux Sables-Horta, course que nos trois invités disputent pour la première fois en Class40, Tanguy Bouroullec connaissant cependant bien le parcours pour l’avoir emprunté deux fois en Mini 6.50 avec deux victoires à la clé ! Nous finissons par évoquer la suite de la saison et notamment la Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie-Le Havre, sur laquelle Achille Nebout, 7e en 2019, 5e en 2021, ne cache pas ses ambitions, une première en Class40 pour Vincent Riou qui y a déjà participé… neuf fois !
