Serve One Another (Week 5 - One Another Series)

Scripture teaches us to accept one another despite our differences.  The church is not a homogenous group of people. The church is not a group of people who all look the same, talk the same, vote the same way, or even believe all of the exact same things.  

The church is made up of different people who all have Jesus in common.  As we accept one another, it brings praise, glory, and honor to our Lord.

Romans 15:7 - Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

We are told to encourage one another, so The God of Encouragement (John 14:16-17/Romans 15:5) came to dwell in you to use you to be an encourager to others.  We even learn how this practically looks through Barnabas, the son of encouragement.

A sincere word of encouragement can make a huge impact on our lives and the lives of others, and The God of Encouragement (Romans 15:5) came to dwell in you to be an encouragement to you and to use you to be an encourager to others.

As new covenant believers, we are called to forgive one another as the Lord forgave us.  We have been completely forgiven and are now free to forgive those who hurt us.

Forgiving someone is not always easy, but as a new creation in Christ, we are to forgive one another as the Lord forgave us.  Being completely forgiven and justified in Christ is what frees us to be able to forgive and reconcile.

Andy Stanely says, "The primary activity of the early church was one anothering one another."  There are 59 one another passages in the New Testament.  Love one another is listed more than any of the others.  Today we lay the foundation for this series and talk about what it looks like to love one another.
