    Wis @ The Sewing Weekender

    Wis @ The Sewing Weekender

This is one of three special Sewing Weekender 2022 podcast. Wis talks about her experience at both the in person event and at the online event. She loves both formats and says how great Rachel, Kate and Charlotte are to develop this event in such a flexible way to meet our sewing needs when we were all in some type of lockdown since 2020.

Following four sell-out annual events in Cambridge, The Fold Line and Charlotte Emma Patterns are bringing The Sewing Weekender online for a third year, on Saturday 21st – Sunday 22nd May 2022

10% of proceeds will be donated to the following charities: Missing People and The British Red Cross Crisis Appeals (supporting work in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen).

Sew Organised Style features people who freely support the sewing community. You're welcome to be a podcast guest by contacting us via DM on Instagram.

    Pete Sews

    Pete Sews

The details maketh the shirt is the presentation you'll love watching by Pete Sews at the Australian Sewing Guild's first online Autumn Sewing Celebration on 27 March 2021.

Pete has a flair for detail and accuracy when he sews, come along on a little journey where fingers get very close to the iron, pinning is preferred and you'll realise the true meaning of 'measure twice, cut once'!

In this presentation Pete will take you through his techniques for adding detail stripes to a cuff, fitting a contrast accent to your yoke seam and everyone's favourite, felled sleeve seams by sewing down the rabbit hole! Pete will be available during and after the presentation to field questions and provide clarification.

You'll get the chance to ask each presenter questions on the day at the Autumn Sewing Celebration and have access to all the presentations for 6 months.

Use #askasghelp on the day on Instagram when you need help with your sewing project too.

    Autumn Sewing Celebration

    Autumn Sewing Celebration

This is the first online sewing conference style event developed by the Australian Sewing Guild (ASG).

In 2020 the ASG worked hard and developed online workshops and sewing challenges to further people's sewing skills.

Early bird tickets are available to the first 125 participants when tickets go on sale today. There are 14 presenters from a range of industries and practices to keep ASG members interest both on the day and for 6 months after this event. The big plus is the presenters will be available on the day to take audience questions at the time their video presentations are launched.

There is a live Zoom presentation with Pam Holland and at the end of the day there is a live Zoom celebration for all participants and presenters to round off such a huge day for everyone.

Don't feel alone while you watch each presentation as you sew your own projects at home. There will be ASG volunteers to give you a virtual hand or advice on the day #askasghelp.

Participants will also get a virtual show bag with discounts from industry partners and our presenters.

Make sure you can make it to the cocktail hour at the end of the Autumn Sewing Celebration. Participants will receive recipes for ASG named cocktails and mocktails as well as a marsala chai tea recipe. Come celebrate with your online sewing friends on 27 March 2021. We hope to see you there.

    World Frocktails 2021

    World Frocktails 2021

World Frocktails is a week of online event filled with sewing community inspiration ranging including panel talks, sewalongs,  cocktail and mocktail sessions with community leaders from 8-13 February 2021. You can get involved in the live sessions, watch each recording and refer to each blog post from each special guest. The schedule is now available but don't be surprised as it continues to grow with people from the sewing community. Every live event will be recorded for ticket holders to re-watch at their convenience.

Topstitch Studio and Lounge are the hosts of the sewing community Topstitch Makers and creators of World Frocktails. They've chosen three charities to support - Build a Nest, Textile Exchange and Global Fund For Women as they support sustainable practices, ethical working conditions, women’s rights, social and racial justice. Anyone who purchases a $2 or $5 charity raffle ticket is entered to win a bundle of sewing prizes. All sales of raffle tickets will be split evenly between the three charities.

    NSW Industry Day team

    NSW Industry Day team

Twice a year, ASG have an Industry Day for members. There's a whole history behind these events but the new team have made their mark to bring more value to the various interests of members. What this means is there's more to look forward to with the event team, formed with some of their skilled volunteers to make these days a more valued experience.

ASG podcasts are also available as transcripts, on the Sew Organised Style ASG podcast page. You'll find the audience recording of Rebecca Ritchie's podcast here and on the podcast post.

In 2021, this event will be run online and called Sewing Celebration with the next event scheduled to be run on 27 March 2021!
