Success without Burnout: Of Trees & Temples, Wisdom from Mark 11

Success without Burnout: Of Trees & Temples, Wisdom from Mark 11

Feel like you are doing a whole lot of work, but instead of being impactful, you just feel BUSY??? Sometimes being a leader - especially in ministry, feels like we have multiple jobs… And for some of us, it actually IS something we do voluntarily in addition to our 9 to 5.

If that’s you (or if it’s not but you don’t want it to be), check out our latest episode with Robert and Tommy as they unpack Mark 11 and the fig tree story. They've got warnings for leaders about getting too busy and missing the fruit.

Tommy and Robert connect the fig tree's leaves to distracting activities, reminding us that busyness doesn't always equal impact. Pursuing success can cost us and our loved ones: and our cycle of constant activity is unhealthy – always gearing up for the next big thing, burning out, and starting over.

Tune in to hear Robert and Tommy talk about intentional pacing for fruitful outcomes and keeping leaders and families in good shape, while exploring how some organizational systems unintentionally hinder diversity. Gain practical insights on fostering diversity and understanding its purpose in shaping us as leaders.

Dr. John Adams: Organizational Leadership - Practical Approaches to Leading and Learning in Times of Change

Dr. John Adams: Organizational Leadership - Practical Approaches to Leading and Learning in Times of Change

Welcome to another episode of Saybrook Insights. One of the joys of my time doing Saybrook Insights is the opportunity to interview Saybrookians - past and present - who have contributed to Saybrook's amazing legacy. Individuals like former President Lorne Buchman and numerous alumni shed amazing light on their Saybrook experience and their work in the world regarding impact to advance positive social change. Today, I have the privilege of speaking with Dr. John Adams, one of the influential founding faculty members in our organizational systems program. John's career is long, varied, and powerful, given his extensive work in applying organizational leadership and development concepts, something we could use a lot more today in our nation's corporations and institutions.

All right, let's get to it with Dr. John Adams.
