CronoCine 2x15: Lawrence de Arabia (David Lean, 1962)

    ¡Hola Crononautas!

284 is great. Benny and RZ look in live, as the Red Sox clinch the division. That's pretty sweet. They then talk about winning, and how the New England area has become very proficient at doing so. Then they talk NFL kickoff, and how endlessly sweet the "Are you ready for some football" song is. That track is timeless. Get over it. Cripes, let's just cut to the chase here: The fellas talk about, and play a clip of one of the many many slick stories that Peter O'Tooler and Richard Harris tell, about getting drunk together. That's the real magic here. Listen up.

    Ep.137 Cat People (1942 Vs. 1982)
Her romantic desires can bring out the beast in her. A large black leopard that will rip you apart! The classic Val Lewton / Jaques Tourner R.K.O. film Cat People (1942) which starred Simone Simon, Kent Smith, Tom Conway and Jane Randolph is as master class in creating mood and tension with little more than low-key lighting and great timing. The Jerry Bruckheimer / Paul Shrader remake (1982) re-imagines the story as an erotic fantasy starring Natassja Kinski, Malcolm McDowell, John Heard, Ruby Dee, Annette O'Toole, Ed Bagley Jr., and Lynn Lowry. The cats may be people, and the people may be cats, join Invasion of the Remake armed with catnip as we discuss Cat People!

    Flashback - Stephen King's IT (1990)

Welcome back to the Front Row Movie Reviews Podcast! The podcast for people who actually like movies!

Welcome back to the Front Row Delorean as we take you back in time for Episode 25 of "Front Row Flashback"! To coincide with the opening of the remake of Stephen King's iconic novel "IT", we thought we'd take a look at the 1990 TV miniseries that was the first attempt to adapt Stephen King's masterpiece of horror. While the film certainly has its dated parts, it still contains one of the best horror monster performances of all time and holds plenty of scares for adults that grew up fearing clowns because of it!

    Episode # 24 - Becket

This week, we're putting our history hats on for Becket, a film set in 12th century France, starring Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton. During the course of this episode, we tread through some brief crash courses in Anglo-Saxon history, modern political references, and a strange amount of references to Samuel Beckett (who has nothing to do with this play)

A white madman embeds himself amongst warring Arab tribes during WW1. What can go wrong? So, so much. But the movie makes for a beloved AFI favourite. Peter O’Toole is outstanding in director David Lean’s hands. We, however, had trouble sorting out our feelings about this sandy epic. Find out why!

Pat is sick. The kind of sick that puts you in the fetal position. So Rob & I take this podcast solo and we do a terrible job. The kind of terrible job that circles back around to awesome "Sharknado" style. In this episode we talk about Netflix and what it means to the industry, Ron & John's new film, and of course... princesses. Rob & I also try our hand at being radio show DJs. We are bad. The kind of bad that you can only get at a high school radio class. Enjoy! (=

    KunstlerCast #107: Sprawl Defenders

    KunstlerCast #107: Sprawl Defenders

This conversation was recorded one day before James Howard Kunstler was scheduled to debate Randal O'Toole at Brown University in Providence, RI. O'Toole is a well-known advocate for the suburban living arrangement. Host Duncan Crary chats with JHK about the pro-suburbia arguments in preparation for the debate. JHK refutes some of the major arguments used by sprawl defenders, including the notions that sprawl is good because people choose it and that sprawl represents liberty. JHK also notes that while the infrastructure required to deliver suburbia is extremely subsidized with government money, many sprawl defenders argue against public transportation because it is subsidized.
