Week 53: Marian Apparitions - Did the Virgin Mary appear in Fatima in 1917?
In 1917, Lucia Dos Santos and her two cousins, Francisco and Jacinta, went out to a nearby field to watch their sheep and enjoy lunch. They noticed a nearby lightning strike and immediately turned to head back home. Before they made any progress, they were stopped by a lady radiating an intense bright light. This lady claimed to be the lady of the Rosary - the virgin Mary. What happened next would create a controversy lasting decades, and according to some historians, would shape the future of the twentieth century.
Join us today as we walk you through the events of the supposed miracle at Fatima. We will examine the event through the lens of Biblical Scripture and analysis. Additionally, we look at the historical accounts and records surrounding the event to see what took place in those fateful months.
This week we use the following Scripture to shed some light on this investigation:
- Deuteronomy 13:1-5
- John 14:6
- Acts 16:31
- Romans 10:9
- John 5:39,40
- Revelation 13:11-15
- 2 Corinthians 11:14,15
