Why is Netflix's new series Painkiller so ADDICTIVE? (A.K.A. Crackhead Crackaz) (Audio)

In this episode of the TruVue Podcast, we review the new Netflix series Painkiller.

Painkiller exposes the roots of the most pressing health epidemic of the 21st century. Powerful narcotic painkillers, or opioids, were once used as drugs of last resort for pain sufferers. Purdue turned OxyContin into a billion dollar blockbuster by launching an unprecedented marketing campaign claiming that the drug's long-acting formulation made it safer to use than traditional painkillers for many types of pain. That illusion was quickly shattered as drug abusers learned that crushing an Oxy could release its narcotic payload all at once. Even in its prescribed form, Oxy proved fiercely addictive. As OxyContin's use and abuse grew, Purdue concealed what it knew from regulators, doctors, and patients.

We get deep into the world of painkillers, addiction, and crackheads, and we have a blast doing it! If you're looking for a new series to binge watch, then you need to check out Painkiller. It's addicting, and so are we!

It's almost time for week 0 for the new college football season, whether Preston understands the math or not.  The boys finally remember to talk about the crazy storms of this past Father's Day weekend and the aftermath of their personal experiences.  Do you know what a NSV is?  Well you will and Preston just had one and you will hear the tale.  Oh, and what is all the controversy about the Blindside movie?  Remember Johnny Football?  We know you want to hear all about that and so much more on this episode of Rock Sports Radio.

#100 Top 3 Hangover Foods ft. DPK & Caroline

This episode is all about shameless self promotion of our Halloween party October 15.  DPK is coming to perform so he gives us an inside look at what his first ever performance was like, how he got to meet Bailey Zimmerman, and how he passed a college class for his friend by impersonating him for the whole semester.  That Sweet Caroline joins us for the second half of the episode to get her take on the best hangover foods, prank calling her mom, and why Sam and Tyler are all the sudden allowed to not follow through on their bets.

Onderwerpen:
    • Drudkh - Furrows Of Gods (00:00)
    • Shout-outs (48:31)

    Episode 109: Fracture

    Episode 109: Fracture

Things get a little personal this week with "Fracture." I get low-grade headaches fairly often (yaayyyyy) but rarely, a full-blown migraine comes on. Less so now that I've learned to avoid certain triggers, but the experience inspired this poem. Also, Trigger Warning: If you're a migraine sufferer, listen with caution.

    You know the drill:

Plants of the Gods: S1E6. Opium

Opium – Perhaps the most ancient of the “Plants of the Gods,” plant remains in Europe clearly indicate that opium was being used by people more than 10,000 years ago. And not only was opium the first effective painkiller, it was also employed as an inspiration by composers and poets. Only in the 19th century did it become widely realized as a highly addictive substance. Some have suggested that this “Plant of the God” might also be termed a “Plant of the Devil.”
