    **Last week's highlights:**

    - **Monday 8/7:** A series of troubling arson fires impacted the Burbank/Toluca Lake area. Ross and Craig share firsthand experiences as they were both on scene.

    - **Tuesday 8/8:** A marathon City Council Meeting stretched on till 1:30 am. Discussions revolved around cost of living adjustments, renovation eviction loopholes, and a potential empowerment of the Landlord Tenant Commission. But sparks flew when Nikki Perez's comments drew a reaction from Nick Shutlz. What's the story there?

    - **Wednesday 8/9:** Downtown Burbank was the center of a massive protest urging Congressman Adam Schiff to stake his position on the Armenian border conflict. The Burbank Police were kept on their toes.

    - **Friday 8/11:** The new Physical and Occupational Therapy building at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center was inaugurated. However, the day wasn't all celebration - a police arrest at Barnes and Nobles raised eyebrows.

    **Looking ahead:**

    - **Monday 8/14:** Tonight’s Planning Board meeting? Canceled.

    - **Tuesday 8/15:** Catch a break from City Council meetings this week as they take a break.

    - **Wednesday 8/16:** The Police Commission's 6 pm meeting at City Hall raises questions. With no significant items on the agenda, what's the need? Still, attendees can look forward to a report on Catalytic converter thefts and insights on traffic. Environmental enthusiasts can head to the Recycle Center's workshop at 6 pm. Meanwhile, biking enthusiasts have a treat at the Walk Bike Burbank event at 6:30 pm. Don't forget those bike lights!

    - **Friday 8/18:** Join us for some gastronomic delights with the grand opening of LOVE Catering! at 735 S. Glenoaks, starting at 5 pm.

    Over twenty years ago I felt pretty isolated in this industry. I was young, I was a woman and I was blessed to have great mentors...but they were all men.

    I didn't even know I was craving for a woman to look up to and model what it meant to be a woman trying to make an impact and finding my place. It was even hard once I had a family and began to juggle even more.
