    Wow, I want to start by saying I am so thankful for all of you, my listeners! I love doing the podcast, releasing new weekly episodes every week, and knowing I have the opportunity to share nutritional advice and wisdom with you. I say all this because nothing has changed; however, I have decided that I need to take a break from the time consuming work podcasting can be. From scheduling guests to preparing questions for interviews to recording and editing the interviews, there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to create an effective podcast episode, and sometimes the work stretches me thin! 

    The guests I have been able to interview are beyond my wildest dreams, and hearing your success stories makes me so excited to continue the work I have been doing so passionately. While I will be taking a break for the month of December, we will be doing weekly throwback episodes from the100+ previous episodes I have created, so you are still receiving weekly advice on all things relating to reversing insulin resistance! 

    I want to take this time to focus on the meaning of Christmas and being with my loved ones during the holiday season. I encourage you to do the same during this very busy and crazy time of the year. It is important to prioritize your health and personal wellness so you serve the people around you well, so I hope you will take time this year to reflect and truly be present!

    This isn't really a black or white kind of answer, but I'll do my best!

    There are many factors that come into play, and I discuss several. Men do tend to lose weight more quickly in the beginning, but it levels out and over the long haul, women will catch up. Here are other factors to think about:

    • Bringing insulin levels down first and foremost
    • Women's hormonal fluctuations
    • Past "diet" or calorie deficit centered programs and how much weight you have to lose
    • Overall nutrition plan and approach

    Episode 34- SUCCESS STORY! Miranda Hugghins Reverses Chronic Illness Through Keto and Intermittent Fasting

    Miranda Hugghins had reached 321 pounds by the time she graduated high school. Although many of her family members also struggled with obesity and chronic health issues, she knew something needed to change, and it was up to her to change it.

    Miranda did a lot of research and implemented the keto lifestyle in 2019, and intermittent fasting shortly after that.

    Before Miranda started the keto and IF lifestyle, she suffered from PCOS, pre-diabetes, and obesity. Within 1 week of starting the keto lifestyle, she had her menstrual cycle, and has since reversed her PCOS and pre-diabetes. Take that chronic illness!

    Miranda has lost and maintained a 90 pound weight loss for 2.5 years. She dutifully keeps her carbs low, eats real foods, intermittent fasts almost every day, and adds extended fasts when right for her.
