I actually felt like I learned a lot about myself — and all after answering two measly questions, imagine! Anyway, join us on the podcast to learn how many times I pick up my phone a day, hear James gripe about drinking the haterade on his Twitter fyp, and get the low down on the next big thing happening in our relationship — our sharing a medical professional!

Stop the Broken Record | a conversation with Pastor Matt Brown an Enneagram Three

Stop the Broken Record | a conversation with Pastor Matt Brown an Enneagram Three

Pastor Matt is a very honest Enneagram Three who was very moved and convicted when encountered by the truth of his personality through the lens of the Enneagram. In this conversation, we chat about the Enneagram impacted his parenting, leadership, and spiritual walk.  As he has worked in a local church, he has found the Enneagram very helpful in guiding, teaching, and leading those under his care, so he decided to write A BOOK CALLED YOU to help others see themselves in the personalities found in the Bible characters. It’s another book you can count on to be biblically grounded and was written in hopes that you can discover more about yourself and gain specific wisdom about how you are uniquely made.

Zoos, Aquariums, and Pet Life in Japan

Zoos, Aquariums, and Pet Life in Japan

Ben and Burke take on the controversial topic of zoos, aquariums, and pet life in Japan. Yes, neither one of these clowns is an expert on the subject by any measure, and their home countries (especially the US) definitely cannot serve as models that Japan should follow.  However, in general, there seems to be a difference in mindset between westerners and Japanese people regarding whether animals deserve to be treated better, particularly in zoos and aquariums.  That said, the boys do explore efforts being made towards improvements at Japanese zoos, most notably at the very popular and highly ranked Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo.  The subjects they cover also include the Taiji dolphin hunt controversially documented in The Cove, the worst zoo in Japan near Jozankei hot springs, bear zoos, and Ben gives Burke the self-described "most popular personality test on the web" to determine his animal spirit, which can be found at https://animalinyou.com/.

I Wish This Office Was Just Walls

I Wish This Office Was Just Walls

We’ve wrapped up Season 5 so that means it’s time for a bonus episode! We’re recapping everything about the season, including some of our favorite new characters, whether Ron will be a good father, (our money is on OF COURSE), what a Parks and Rec video game would look like, and we take a “Which Parks and Rec Character Are You?” quiz.

Plus, Sean talks about his rec center closing down for a week before opening as a voting site and the disappointment it’s brought among the community. We’re going off on plenty of tangents, too. We dive into Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, The Price is Right, the joys of having inbox zero at work, playing the lottery at a gas station, and a guest star from the early days of Parks n Wrecked is getting married.

    Take the character quiz here!

Watch the video from the ’96 Summer Olympics that Sean talks about!

Season 2, Ep. 18 - We've Been Lied to About Relationships
Season 2, Ep. 18 - We've Been Lied to About Relationships There's so much confusion out there about relationships. So much so that most people don't trust "Relationship Experts". I don't blame you, for the most part, many so-called experts refuse to tell the truth about relationships. In this episode, I break down the importance of gender roles, who holds the power in relationships and why most men never commit. So sit tight and enjoy this episode.

    The Hacked States of America

    The Hacked States of America

On this episode of The Open Mind, we're delighted to welcome Karim Amer, Director of The Great Hack.

On his quest for digital justice, Parsons School of Design professor David Carroll joined us last year to discuss his suit against Facebook and Cambridge Analytica for violating his right to personal data. As we filmed our episode a Netflix crew surrounded us and trailed Carroll's journey. You can see part of our interview in the groundbreaking documentary directed by my guest today, Karim Amer.

The Great Hack is a tour de force of the digital dystopia, law-breaking and anti-democratic realities of the Internet age. Amir explores how Cambridge Analytica exploited the demons of social media in the Brexit campaign and in the run up to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Today we'll discuss the weaponization of the digital economy that preys on an increasingly vulnerable, misinformed; I think we must say too, dis-informed globe and it is exacerbating the greatest inequities society has perhaps witnessed.
