Remove your anxious thoughts - Philippians 4:4-9

    Philippians 4:4-9

4 Rejoice (be delighted, pleased) in (resting within) the Lord (Christ) always: and again I say, Rejoice.

5 Let your moderation (forbearance and consideration) be known (experientially known) unto all men. The Lord (Christ) is at hand.

6 Be careful (anxious)l for nothing (not one thing); but in every thing (all things) by prayer (prayers to God) and supplication (specific prayers of need) with thanksgiving let your requests (specific requests) be made known (declare) unto God.

7 And the peace (state of wellbeing) of God, which passeth (surpassing) all understanding (thought), shall keep (garrison or fortify) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest (dignified), whatsoever things are just (righteous), whatsoever things are pure (free from every defilement), whatsoever things are lovely (dear to anyone), whatsoever things are of good report (well spoken, well worded); if there be any virtue (good, quality, excellence), and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

    The War in Our Mind

    The War in Our Mind

How we think shapes how we live. Are your thoughts full of fear or peace? Are they critical or joyful? Do you think about your own kingdom or serving God’s Kingdom? We must renew our minds from the lies we tell ourselves and instead believe what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. Living like Jesus begins with thinking like Jesus. Our lives are changed as our minds are changed.

    The Choice

    The Choice

(Sermon preached November 20, 2022)  In Philippians 4:4-9, Paul tells us that rejoicing is appropriate for all occasions and is the gateway to the peace that passes all understanding.  He wrote these words from a prison cell.  We can choose joy.  Dr. Edith Eva Eger, wrote the book, "The Choice" in 2017.  She is a survivor of Auschwitz and earned her degree as a Clinical Psychologist at the age of 50.  Like Paul, she affirms that no one can take from us our power to choose how we respond to whatever life throws at us.
