    The Lock-In 82 - Soheb Porbandarwala

    The Lock-In 82 - Soheb Porbandarwala

This week we are locked in with WPT champion and self-professed ‘shit-reg’ Soheb Porbandarwala.

The lads talk about the live poker going on right now on the West coast of Ireland where the water is majestic and the East coast of the US where the water is contaminated.

They also weigh in on the ‘Super-User’ scandal on GGPoker and the Botfarm allegations leveraged against ACR. The possibility of a player’s strike is discussed as some online poker rooms fail to be sufficiently transparent or rigorous when it comes to security and game integrity matters.

Dara and David also look ahead to the London Poker Festival in Aspers for which there are satellites on Unibet Poker.

045: How to spot a broken hand analysis

045: How to spot a broken hand analysis

I've mentioned before that one of my favorite things about working with public players who join the Detox 30 day training camp is that we really get to repair the frameworks that they've picked up from mainstream and probably distorted to some degree. Whether it was because it was delivered to them in a distorted way or they were only able to partially understand it it so they ended up warping that concept. This is an episode where you're going to hear a really good example of that. Using this concept of pot growth vulnerability of the Hand, we get to look at how the player perceives the utility of that concept, and then we get to expose how it's not actually allowing him to think clearly during the Hand. That's really why it's important to rewire your frameworks. You need to be able to follow the incentive of the Hand, and if your framework doesn't allow you to do that, then your framework is broken. Check out how it works. I'll see you on the other side.

035: Accessing a permanent flow state

035: Accessing a permanent flow state

This episode is a discussion with a player who was having a really hard time marrying the study process with the playing process. I hope it gives you some ideas around how to unify these two different sides of your career in a way that brings you more excitement and enjoyment no matter what type of mistakes you're making and no matter what type of short term variance you're up against.

    034: Turning mistakes into gold

    034: Turning mistakes into gold

In this episode, we're going to build on the theme of transforming your relationship into mistakes. This talk came from a discussion that I had with a woman who was a trainee in my private program. She's extremely self-aware, and that's why I really enjoyed this talk. We were able to go really deep and hit a lot of different angles, covering the frameworks that you can use to continue to transform your relationship with mistakes. Hope you enjoy it. I'll see you on the other side.

033: The cure for your poker anxiety

033: The cure for your poker anxiety

What's up, guys? This is a talk I had with a player who had a lot of anxiety around his poker career. Specifically, anxiety around making mistakes. The reason I love this episode and why I decided to include it is because I found myself spontaneously going into a totally different direction than I expected to with the consult, something just occurred in me. It said, this kid doesn't want advice. This kid needs reassurance. So I hope that this speaks to all of you who came from unsupportive environments where there was not enough guidance, specifically in the moments when you needed it the most, because you made a big mistake and you knew it, and it felt like shit and nobody was there. If that sounds relatable to you, I hope this episode gives you some new frameworks for how to navigate mistakes in a healthier way.

    032: Should I play 500NL or 1kNL?

    032: Should I play 500NL or 1kNL?

This episode picks up with a clip from a consult where I'm trying to help a player clarify what he actually wants. Most people want to get to high stakes. Some people want to do it in different ways. This player particularly is wondering, should I play 500NL or 1kNL? I can never decide. It seems like I should prioritize playing against fish for my win rate, but I also want to challenge myself against regs. How do I make sure that I get to high stakes in the right way? We talk about all that and more in this clip. I hope it gives you some clarity over your own journey and how to navigate the stakes.

031: The hidden skill that gets you to high stakes

031: The hidden skill that gets you to high stakes

What's up, guys? Most of the new content I'll be releasing in future episodes come from consults with players that I've talked to in the poker industry. This player happens to come from my private side. We had a very honest discussion around what it's like to run bad and how much control you really have over that process. What came from it was a new understanding of a dimension of skill that most players overlook on the path to high stakes. I hope this one helps you if you're going through a bad stretch of luck right now, and if not, hopefully, it will land in your subconscious for a time when you need it the most.
