Later, we shift to war-torn Ukraine to discuss Russia's severe drone and missile attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure. We also explore the alarming increase in political violence throughout Europe as the region approaches critical EU elections in June. Why is it so dangerous to be an MP?

Why is it so dangerous to be an MP?

Justice Minister and MP for Finchley and Golders Green, Mike Freer, announced he would be leaving politics this week, fearing for his and his family's safety after an arson attack on his office.

Years on from the two shocking murders of MPs Jo Cox and Sir David Amess, we ask why has it become so dangerous to become an MP?

Lewis travels to Mike Freer's burnt-out constituency office in North London, and we hear from Kim Leadbeater MP, the sister of Jo Cox, who now sits in Parliament as an MP in her late sister's constituency.

Later, LBC's Henry Riley tells a tale about one Laurence Fox.

In it, Luke shares his on-the-ground reporting across America — from anti-lockdown protests in Lansing, Michigan, to the uprising in Minneapolis after the murder of George Floyd — to explain how the forces that animated the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 came to gather strength. In this discussion, Sean and Luke talk about what happened, how it happened, and how Luke's experience at the Capitol on the 6th shaped his view of what's coming next. "Fine, we’ll talk about Joe Rogan.”

Why fascism in Post-Trump America isn't going away

Why fascism in Post-Trump America isn't going away
Vox's Sean Illing talks to Yale professor and author Jason Stanley about why American democracy provides such fertile soil for fascism, how Donald Trump demonstrated how easy it was for our country to flirt with a fascist future and what we can do about it. Correction 2/1: Professor Stanley suggested in this conversation that West Virginia declined to expand the Medicaid option in 2013. In fact, the state did expand the program and has gradually added enrollment since 2013. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

They Are NOT “Protests” (Ep 1334)

They Are NOT “Protests” (Ep 1334)
In this episode, I discuss the street riots and who is behind them. These are NOT protests and anyone promoting that nonsense is lying to you. I also address a stunning article about how liberal fraudsters commit election fraud.  News Picks: A stunning insider’s account of voter fraud and how it’s done. Violent leftist rioters commit a murder on the streets of Portland.  Democrats have been encouraging violence for a long time, beginning with Barack Obama.  The Mayor of Portland is a fraud. He turned down federal help.  Who is funding these violent riots in American cities? Questions are emerging about the CIA’s conclusions about Putin’s intentions.  A terrific Andy McCarthy article explaining the role of the FBI lawyer who pled guilty to manipulating evidence in the Spygate case.  Are more declassified documents coming out in the Spygate scandal? Ep. 296 - Why 'The Squad' Refuses To Condemn Antifa

An Antifa member just waged a terrorist attack against a government facility. Prominent Democrats absolutely refuse to condemn the act. We'll talk about why. Also, Joe Biden reveals his stunning historical ignorance. And I'll explain why we should all stop watching Disney movies. It's not a boycott. This is about self-respect. Date: 07-16-2019

    The purpose of political violence

    The purpose of political violence
“Between 1830 and 1860, there were more than seventy violent incidents between congressmen in the House and Senate chambers or on nearby streets and dueling grounds.” Here’s the wild thing about that statistic, which comes from Yale historian Joanne Freeman’s remarkable book The Field of Blood: Violence in Congress and the Road to Civil War: It’s an undercount. There was much more violence between members of Congress even than that. Congress used to be thick with duels, brawls, threats, and violent intimidation. That history is often forgotten today, and that forgetting has come at a cost: It lets us pretend that this moment, with all its tumult and terror, is somehow divorced from our traditions, an aberration from our past, when it’s in fact rooted in them. That’s why I wanted to talk to Freeman right now: to remind us that American politics has long been shaped by people who used the threat or practice of national violence as a way to force the political system to accept ongoing injustice. This conversation isn’t as easy as just saying political violence is bad. It’s also about recognizing that political violence has a purpose, and weighing the conditions under which it’s right and even necessary to provoke it.
